The white supremacists, neo-natzis called The Base plan to rally in Richmond on Martin Luther Jr. Day. Some have already been arrested. I've heard they may plan to storm the capital, too. They seem to be very dangerous.

See the video for the latest on them.

I've been asking myself what in the heck is wrong with these people? Is it utter stupidity or what?(n)

Oh, please. The event should be cancelled. This is a no brainer. These people represent a hate group. Sounds like it could be worse than Charlottesville if allowed to proceed.
Yes it could be worse. I know it's a HATE group. Just wondered how people get so stupid!

I had a post that was removed and it was no where near as.... as this one. Not sure why this post has not being removed. IMO does not deserve the attention. No disrespect @Ruthanne.
Really? Didn't know that. Is it wrong to want to know how people like this develop into what they have become?šŸ™ƒ

The rally does pose a problem. What is "free speech"? Even if you ban the event, you haven't resolved the problem of "hate" groups, who supposedly have the right of free speech. You can ban acts of hate and intimidation, but how can you ban what is in people's hearts? And as vile as their views are, do White Supremacists/Neo-Nazis have a right to express them?

No. They promote violence and violence is a crime.

Using this logic, what would you have done about the minutemen? Sorry, much as I despise this bunch of yokels, it still goes back to the 1st amendment. You cannot and should not have the option of choosing who has and who hasn't the right to the 1st amendment. (or any amendment for that matter)

That’s right, no matter how much we despise the words of others we have no right to limit freedom of speech, where does that end? First amendment is all about liberty and freedom it cannot be unabridged. This is why everyone flocks of the United States of America and why we love our country and why despots hate us and seek to control the people and any dissenter for their own means.

Freedom of peaceful assembly, sometimes used interchangeably with the freedom of association, is the individual right or ability of people to come together and collectively express, promote, pursue, and defend their collective or shared ideas.[2] The right to freedom of association is recognized as a human right, a political right and a civil liberty.

The terms freedom of assembly and freedom of association may be used to distinguish between the freedom to assemble in public places and the freedom to join an association. Freedom of assembly is often used in the context of the right to protest, while freedom of association is used in the context of labor rights and in the Constitution of the United States is interpreted to mean both the freedom to assemble and the freedom to join an association.

These assemblies may be subject to time and place.

I agree here.

I live in Richmond. Nothing is as simple as it seems.

This started as a rally by various "legitimate" gun rights groups to peacefully protest new legislative initiatives. Now the hate groups (not local - please note) are shoehorning in. Then Antifa said it would show up. The whole thing is turning into a cluster****.

Richmond is a pretty enlightened place. We have a popular African-American mayor and different groups work well together. We don't need this.

I don't agree with the gun groups, but they have a right to express themselves. But when the hate groups (including Antifa, a hate group if ever there was one) show up to provoke violence, then the game is over. The whole thing should be shut down.

The only "Neo-NaTzi" (sic) is Ralph Northham who appears in blackface at parties, sponsored a bill to allow mamas to kill their babies after they have been born, and wants to remove the 2nd Amendment.

Seems that moonbats who were brainwashed by their socialist professors infest this forum.

Why do you label yourself as Damaged Goods? And why label SF members as 'moonbats'? I am sure it is within your rights to do so, first amendment and all that, but what has provoked this outburst?
