Who got their stimulus money? My daughter, son, and his GF got theirs, I didn’t get ours

Greed got the best of me, lol. I only get 800 a month social security and I have no other income.
I hope you can use that extra money for something you really want... it's people like you on such low incomes that need that kind of injection

The following is from our local news . (from the IRS) ....

The checks will go out in three waves.

Most payments will go out this week, that includes social security recipients who filed tax returns and included their direct deposit information.
Look for direct deposit from the IRS treasury in your statements.

The second wave will go to social security recipients who did not file 2018 or 2019 returns and receive their benefits through direct deposit.

The final wave will happen in late April or early May, the IRS will mail paper checks to households at a rate of five million per week.
The paper checks will go to households with the lowest adjusted gross income and continue up.
Does that mean the people who are the poorest will have to wait the longest for their money ?

Blimey I wish we had sitmulas sytem here...

You have misunderstood, I shouldn’t assume people know things. Husband works and gets social security. Our money is separate.

oh I thought when you said you had no other income other than $800 a month... then that's all you had...
I did because that’s my only income, but we still both get the maximum amount. Sorry, didn’t, mean to mislead anyone.

This really isn’t a good thing, necessarily. There are some people that definitely need some extra help, but there are also some, maybe many, that don’t need a dime. The money being handed out is money that is being printed, so it gets added to the National Debt.

I get ya....but who will pay that debt off ultimately...?... will the country potentially go into recession due to it ?

Well, our future generations. It’s going to fall on their backs eventually. At some point, taxes will have to be raised.

Increases in our national debt is certainly a contributing factor for a recession. Also, all these people being out of work just adds to the risk of going into a recession. When the country opens back up and depending on how many don’t get to go back to their job, that may be the spark that will cause a recession. Loss of consumer confidence is the third factor. It kind of all fits together.

Well, we qualified for the first wave, but did ‘t get any money which is why we went to the IRS site and gave them our bank info as well

Anyone who doesn’t want their money, I will volunteer to take it. 🤣

I agree the local television station took an informal poll of people on social media in my community and over 30% of the people indicated that the stimulus money would go into savings.

IMO the government should have focused on enhanced unemployment benefits and waited on any other form of individual stimulus until we see if the economy rebounds when people start going back to work.

It’s not a matter of not wanting it, but looking at the big picture, this money will have to be paid back at some point. I would rather not have my grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc have to pay back money they did not get any benefit from.

True ... . the unemployed need it more.
My retired lifestyle hasn't changed due to the virus and all the shutdowns. I'm passing mine down to family.

I agree here & with oldman.

How do we know when it has been direct deposited? It is supposed to go to the account where our SS goes.

We do not bank online.
