Who on earth is Taylor Swift?

From an Article in "Travel and Tourism" September 28, 2023:
(They say she is single handedly saving the US economy with her Eras tour)

....But what was unexpected was her economic impact, which rivals that of the Super Bowl. Fans of the artist, known as Swifties, averaged $1,300 in spending on travel, accommodations, food and more across the twenty cities that the artist has visited in the past five months.

Swifties have already spent $5 billion in direct spending across the country due to the tour, but the U.S. Travel Association believes the tour’s total economic impact could be higher than $10 billion.
Cities that welcomed Swift on her tour saw record high occupancy rates at hotels as it drew travelers from across the country.

Los Angeles hosted the end of the first part of the Eras Tour, hosting six shows that brought an economic impact of $320 million to the city and creating 3,300 extra jobs.

My lady is usually well informed, she does at least browse the newspaper which is more than I do. Doing a bit of my own research I asked her: "Who is Taylor Swift?" "Who?" she replied. "Taylor Swift," I repeated. "Are you talking male or female?" She replied, adding, "is Taylor the first name?" Not wanting to let on that I know, I said, "female, I think."

"Is she a soap opera actress?" My wife suggested. "You're probably right," I replied, letting the subject drop. Ignorance really can be bliss.

I would rather have your dear wife's class than T. Swift's money, @horseless carriage

As a fellow musician, I think she’s incredibly talented. I watched her world tour a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing. She sang, danced and entertained for three hours non stop. She must be in really good shape to be doing a 3 hour world tour. I think I’m equally impressed with her generosity and the way she treats her fans and the less fortunate.

I don't expect people in my age group to know a lot about Taylor Swift but why all the anger?
I am not sure but I think jealousy
She’s young, pretty, she’s intelligent, she’s super talented, super rich, has a killer body and a sassy attitude.

There’s many pretentious people out there wishing they could be her ?

I happened upon her on YouTube. I agree with what @Peppermint Patty said! Swift is a very talented and hardworking singer. I believe many of her songs were written by her.
She writes ALL her own songs.
What many don’t like is that she wrote a block buster hit singing about one of her unsuccessful relationships. It’s not crime worthy. Lol

...She sounds like the majority of other cookie cutter pop singers out there, like they were churned out of a factory production line. But she managed to make the list of billionaires recently, bless her heart. It's amazing what studio magic and great promoters can do.

Her vocal range is limited but her songwriting is excellent and showmanship stellar for her target audience. She's also a savvy self marketer. Her recent surge in revenue isn't studio magic ...she bypassed the studios and directly marketed her Eras tour movie to theater chains much to the chagrin of the Hollywood elites. I don't listen to much of her music but I admire her business acumen.

I don't listen to Taylor Swift's music but I know who she is and I admire her for being a positive role model for her fans. She doesn't do all the outrageous stunts that Madonna has done to stay relevant.

She also has been pretty outspoken in who she wants to run the country. She has encouraged her young followers to get out and vote, and they may make a difference.

She may be just a pop star but she is also has a tremendous influence on young people and our country. Time to get to know her.

And I may be wrong but doesn't most of her (Kardashian) talent lie beneath her chin and above her waist?
I believe Kendall Jenner started a makeup line/company and the profits made her a billionaire.
