Why are some people so rude?

both my sons were in hockey and you want to hear rude....these people would yell and curse at the referees..who were but kids themselves...one yelled and swore at my son who was the referee at the time...well.enough about that....let us just say she sat far far away from me in the future...;);)
I used to referee kids' soccer. About 99 percent of the parents were great. There was that one in a hundred who thought that the quality of the officiating in a Saturday afternoon recreational game was worth commenting on, loudly and nastily.

I wasn't a great referee, but they couldn't find anybody else to do it, so I volunteered. No good deed goes unpunished, as they say.

I think that far too many parents are ego-involved in the athletic or artistic performances of their own children, and have seen far more parents than children get sputtering mad at athletic competitions over officiating, performances, or outcomes. It is never “just a game” for such individuals, and what a poor model of sportsmanship and proper conduct they provide!

You are probably right. My daughter sent me some pictures of the competition. Can you tell which girl she was making fun of in this picture? It's the girl on the end and the rude person kept calling her fatty. My granddaughter is under the number C.
Ummm … 🤔 Not to be rude but isn’t ‘C’ a letter, not a number?
And those two girls on the right, amazing dancers for having just one leg each!
Your granddaughter though is by far the most amazingest! Great photo of all!

The behavior of that woman made me think of the Larry David sitcom, Curb Your Enthusiasm, on HBO. The show is largely improvised, and is often brilliant. Larry often behaves like that, maybe not quite as extreme as this woman, but close. He manages to go around offending everybody, even when he is well-meaning. Funny on TV, not so funny in real life.

About Sassycakes's rude person. The first thing that popped into my head was "Oh, you met my sister-in-law". Maybe rudeness is some genetic defect - a wrong something or other in the wrong place. They just don't understand how rude they are. But I found that rude people get ballistic, if they are treated rudely. They have a temper tantrum, which proves they understand rudeness-just like my sister-in-law.

Sounds like that saying about, “It takes one, to know one.”

Remarks said loudly to that girl will stay with her for the rest of her life. It is not rudeness, it's mental illness. Do you know, @Sassycakes which child she was there for? I'm sick to my stomach thinking of that lovely girl. Damn that woman!

The person in charge should be told. It's a disgrace that must never happen again. It's child abuse. Make sure the people running this dance school, or whatever it is called, know. The more I think about it................................the madder I get!

You caught me, I never did good in school knowing the difference between numbers and letters.

I’m glad that your time today was more happily spent.
I’m also glad that I’m a man, thereby removing myself
as a suspect in any previous rude behaviors there.
