Why do we believe in God

If "God" really existed, He would need billions of assistants to personally communicate with every human who ever lived! However, Christian MUSIC can be heard by everyone who owns an Amazon Echo Show. I prefer the music to the supernatural.

The question was why do WE believe in Him. Who better to ask?
Up til now we have had priests, pastors, and proselytizers to tell us why we need to believe. But that takes thinking that God is a distinct being that can hear us, and created us. Then you could imagine him/her answering you. Like an imaginary friend. Having such a friend can be very helpful when we are upset.

Asking ourselves why we believe is very hard to get a straight answer. I don't think we can tell ourselves the truth. It is to philosophical to get a simple answer, and the complicated ones are endless. :)

Yep. Ray Stevens wrote/sang a song called "Get in touch with God, turn your Radio on."

l had already answered that Love ls why l believe in God and l still do. One's answer is not the same for everyone. I don't expect that.

I have no issue with people who believe in a God. In fact, they're far more judgemental than I.
What a contradictory statement. Isn't being judgemental an issue? Aren't you judging them when you say that about them and claiming to be superior to them in the process??
Looking at this thread there seems to be far more criticism of believers than vice versa.

Completely understand what you are saying. I suppose we need to go back. What we knew or believed before the priests, pastors and proselytizers entered the issue, has been lost, deluted and made to seem silly because we have overlooked their guidence.. You do not need them to tell you anything
As the bible says:
:"But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him."

Believing is an act of faith, jumping in without thinking. Faith is born of experience, trial and error, coming out the other end and wiping your brow. Realizing that what happen, what results transpired had nothing to do with intellect but timing and the unexplicable way that God works.
Chance, odds, things just happen never to be repeated again but just perfect for your needs.

Why do we believe in god, question is directed to the collective we as individuals. Just messing with you, but why do you believe in god? I can tell you why I believe in god, because is proven to be real in my life and I do not want to go back to the way it was when I did not understand god in my life.

That is true for people of all religions even the most primitive ones. What they believe works for them. Why would that be different for people who have different beliefs?

It's basically, you believe in God because you believe in God.

I guess that is so. Humans have many different ideas about their gods. There is not one true god but many imagined ones. Logos and universal laws are truth but this is not a human-like being we call god. Saying prayers and burning candles will not change the consequences of our actions.

God won't do that either.

True to a point, except that you never stop believing as opposed to Santa, for example, when you find out who was wearing the suit and that he didn't always eat the cookies and you didn't have a fireplace.
You believe......why. Why do you continue to believe? Misplaced feelings of security? of comfort? (I.E. I would rather believe then to feel alone). To sum it up.
I have thought that.
Yet pushing it aside and forging my own way produced nothing but exhaustion and failure. In frustration I called out to God thru prayer, (ie I had no place else to go).
In a clear strong voice he talked to me. Not in words, but in thoughts. He didn't perform miracles and make my problems go away. He simple told me me the course of action that needed to be undertaking. I thought, I defer to His reason, I thought again and then I followed thru with his direction.
End result is that I write to you today, and to others because I know that is not only alive but still in charge. Regardless of apprehensions, God is in charge. He is the "I AM_"

Worry, fret, pace, Stock up on survival food, buy a gun. March in protest, write to Facebook and all the other sympathetic social media sites, look for help and then.............................................realize that you are appealing to others with the same concerns. They have no answers.....do you have answers? they inquire.

Yes, you do.
As you said.......I believe in God because I believe in God. Just pray, be quiet and listen.

Father Death is my God. I only listen to Jesus in the songs about him played on my Amazon Echos.

All suffering ends at death. Pain and Impairment disappear. I am 89 and can hardly wait to cease existence!

I notice that the British Parliament has legalized Medical Aid in Dying for the terminally ill.

you will endure until God brings you home. He will decide.

No one but those who have died know the truth, and no one has returned to testify! I do believe, let's say, just to be on the safe side. What harm am I doing to myself by believing? When I die, and if I find out there is nothing, I have lost nothing, or if He exists after all, I will have then punched my ticket for the Pearly Gates :)! Had I not believed and died and there is a God....then I will be headed for the Fiery Furnace :(. So I think most people believe.... just in case.... ;)

Many have died, been resurrected, and told others about their death experience. Here is a google page with many accounts of that.

Thank you for making a good point and sharing your valuable thoughts. Forgive me if you will, but I have to add that it would bother me to think the only reason I believe is for insurance protection, "just in case."

This was Blaise Pascal's famous wager. He was a brilliant philosopher, scientist, and mathematician, ahead of his time, who made many contributions to the advancement of mankind, but he is known mostly for the flawed "Pascal's Wager," which I heard was something he scribbled on a napkin after a dinner, probably with an ample amount of wine under his belt.

I read an article one time that began, "How would you like to be a person who's contributions to man's advancement are unparalleled in so many ways, but remembered mostly from an afterthought scribbled on a napkin that was probably never intended to be made public?
