Why isn't Israel an active member of the coalition of nations opposing ISIS.

I asked this question as a comment in another thread and it didn't enlist any responses. I suspect that the reason Israel is not a member is because if it were, most of the Arab states would leave the coalition. Sort of like if the Republicans were trying to achieve something and President Obama said he agreed with their effort and would help out, suddenly the Republicans would bow out.

I would agree with that interpretation.

Just this week we have seen Jordan. Egypt and Libya step up to attack ISIS after recent atrocities but if Israel were involved, they would have a lot of domestic problems.

I'm not sure what you mean by "domestic problems". I would think that the Jewish segment of the Israeli public would certainly support a war on ISIS and I'm not sure but that the Arab Israelis wouldn't feel the same way.

The Middle East is so unstable that many Arab governments are only hanging on by their fingernails.
Any displeasure among the citizenry could spark more insurrections. In the end it's all about Sunni/Shia rivalries IMO.
However, both regard Israel as the enemy so their enemy's enemy becomes their ally, even a group as vile as ISIS.

They're probably just waiting for Big Brother America to come in and do it ... why use up all of those nifty weapons and all that ammo that we give them on something like ISIS?
