Winning power ball ticket sold

Finally, after many weeks of no single winning ticket, someone in Moro Bay , California won the 700 million dollar power ball.
The winner will have the option of taking a 29 year annuity OR a one-time pay out of $496 million (before taxes).

Oh my goodness, if I had won that amount, I'd keep it secret. And then disappear.

Saw a story recently where a man won 40K and had the ticket in his shirt pocket. He was working on his boat. He slipped and hit his head and fell over board and drowned. They said the ticket was recovered but nothing more.

Funny, read recently that 70% of big lottery winners exhaust their cash in the first 3 years or so.

A woman where I once worked, hit for 3.2 million. She was broke in about that time. The only good purchase she made was a house for her & her mother.

She applied for & got her old job back. Those that worked [with] her said she seldom talked about it.

Wow ! How does someone go through 3.2 million in 3 years ?

In her case, I [heard] it was mostly gambling.
Gambling ? I believe you, but I have a hard time understanding how she could be so stupid. I mean, seriously . she was set for life and then to blow it on gambling ?

All of us @ work said the same thing ..... perhaps why she declined talking about it.

She was dating one of the guys that worked for me, she bought him a $10,000 Rolex watch, then asked for it back , when the money started running out.

I think lotteries that give so much money to one person are outrageously ridiculous.
I think you are on to something here. Give a higher amount to the first numbers that hit it and then a number of people next get an amount. No one would need that much money. It wouldn't buy happiness but imagine 2-3 million to many more. Pay off a home, kids and/or grandkids through college. Never a money worry.

I'd get a house and have a deluxe catio built.

If I won a large amount of money I would divide it with family and friends, donate to some charities. One time I played the lottery and the prize was a million dollars. I told my son how I would divide it. He said I could give him half and my daughter half and keep $5000 for myself he said that's all I would need. I laughed for hours after he told me that.
