Without a Jet airliner how do I preach?

Yeah, while I know not all religious people think this is okay, there are just too many reasons why I steer clear of bible-thumpers who brag about spending soooo much time in church and giving the church money when they can barely pay their rent/mortgage/utilities. I’m not impressed and I no longer waste my time trying to justify my position. In fact, I refuse to even listen to them. Spiritualism is one thing, but organized religion is not for me.

Who was the preacher (maybe Oral Roberts?) who threatened that God was going to "take him home" if his followers didn't donate enough money? Then there was Jerry Falwell who felt that the hurricanes in Florida could be directly blamed on Gay Days at Disney and the rainbow flags that flew in downtown Orlando. The bible states that it is easier for a camel to pass through a needles eye than it is for a rich man to get into heaven. I feel that it would be more likely that the Queen Elizabeth II will come steaming down the drainage ditch in my neighborhood than these so-called Holy Men will ooze their way past the Pearly Gates. I am an "unorganized Christian"...... I have hopes that will be enough.

In far too many churches, the Most Important thing is the passing of the collection plate, and the tithes. I guess a lot of these charlatans overlooked that passage in the Bible, where Jesus threw the "Money Changers" out of the Temple.

We don't seem to have those kinds of churches here. The Church Of England does have a collection plate like all churches do, most people use the little envelopes to put their money in so nobody can stare at how much/little you are giving. You are never contacted or asked how much, or could you give more etc. It's all very low key.

Money IS needed for the upkeep of the buildings and for the pay of vicar/sexton etc. Also the maintenance of the churchyard. All cleaning, flower arranging bell ringing etc is done by volunteers.

I have no problem with a church needing money to keep it going but no church needs a jetliner or other extravagances.

Think what 65 million dollars could do...so many wonderful causes. But one selfish SOB needs it? His contributors are insane.

They would have to be. Any normal person would see a problem with something like that. I think they become brainwashed.

Dollar is a well-known proponent of the prosperity gospel, a Christian teaching that suggests God wants all Christians to be prosperous and that material wealth is a sign of God’s favour.
Prosperity gospel is an American aberration but it fits in with the American Dream, which is one reason I presume why it is so popular over there. All organised religion is not in this particular camp although thanks to some enthusiastic missions to OZ it has gained a toehold in the form of the Hillsong movement.

Our minister gets a car and petrol allowance and pays for his own vehicle.

Are you kidding me? We have two Presidential candidates that will spend in excess of $1 billion each. THINK how much good all that money could do, if spent appropriately. Their supporters are no different than the idiots that support televangelists.

As for Creflo Dollar, he is a hoax. His preaching has more to do with gaining wealth than with the word of God. He isn't the first that is or has gone down this road and he won't be the last. There are just too many to list, but each one of these so-called ministers are knocking on Hell's door and it is about to open for them. They may as well enjoy their time here on earth because what awaits them after death will be one heckuva' payback or as we say here in America, Karma is about to make an appearance.

I will say one thing in his favor, I admire his taste in private jets. If I had the money and the choice of which jet to purchase, I would buy one of these Gulfstream G650's for my own hangar. I saw one of these beautiful jets at a show in Las Vegas a few years back and I was impressed. The plane that I saw was customized inside for a buyer in Saudi Arabia or somewhere in the middle east. It was beautiful and they are fast at about Mach .8 (600 m.p.h.) with two Rolls Royce engines. I was not allowed to sit in the cockpit, but if I had, I may have been looking for financing. http://www.gulfstream.com/aircraft/gulfstream-g650
