Women's World Cup; anyone watching?

Columbia 1 beat Jamaica and will meet England next round.
Unfortunately, the women's game is morphing into the pushing, shoving, fouling, and cheating of the men's game.

That would fit well on the a "Grey Divorce" thread:D

I missed the Colombia/Jamaica game which was a little too early. However, I was up in time for France/Morocco. It was a good game. The Moroccan women did not have the speed to keep up with Les Bleues.

The stadium should be sold out for Australia vs France on Saturday. Les Bleues will have to block out the deafening noise.

I saw the replay of Rapinoe’s missed penalty kick and I thought “Good. There is such a thing as Karma.” She has very few real fans and as one announcer put it she is to soccer as Kaepernick is to the NFL. I hope she finally retires now.

The big one coming up, nobody wants to lose in a semi-final. England v Australia should be a good one and a good crowd.
So what has the USA got which is missing in the UK, The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders of course, also brilliant. We, Poms, are too stuffy.

When the tournament began, nobody wanted to lose, PERIOD! There were 32 countries competing and only one will get the last laugh. After every win, team members are elated with joy. However, as the games progress, those laughs turn to uncontrollable crying and sadness for an eventual total of 31 teams/countries. :(

I'm predicting Australia vs Spain in the final.

I got to quite a few semi-finals when I was All England Champion at something, but I never cried, then I never worried about losing, it is negative.

You were right about Spain, very young team, but upstaged the others, to get there.

What's the scuffle about? It was a fair match. England simply out played Australia. Matches can be called flukes. Every win/loss in every sport can be called a fluke. IT IS A GAME! The game sure didn't look like luck. Remember "you win some, and you lose some."

Any predictions for the final?

I am for Spain. ( My ancestors were Portuguese ) :)

Well..you've lost already, Portuguese are not Spanish :)

I watched a lot of the games, and it was a really good tournament. England got beaten handily today 1 - 0 by Spain. It was a very good game but I thought Spain dominated England throughout the game. I expected England to win, but you never know...

Spain had much more speed on their team than most other teams. It really showed in this game with England, they were beating the English player to the ball, most of the time.

I am sure others may see it differently, but regardless a really good game was played!

Plus more efficient passing the ball and patience while being pressured deep in their own territory.
