Something to watch later this afternoon as the Yankees and Dodgers play in Los Angeles. Most recall the 1963 World Series when dominant Los Angeles pitching swept in 4 games with Sandy Koufax the big star. As a downtown LA born native, was long a Dodger fan and Yankee hater during that era but have long since abandoned that team. Like New York, they have bullied the rest of the teams with their $$$ and media dominance. Know little about the current teams or players, have no preferences, and instead hope for interesting, well-played games.

Note as a kid, I played endless softball and baseball including being in Little League, so the sport is deeply part of my being. I just love the visceral feeling of with a powerful swing, connecting at the meat of a bat with a hardball.

I started watching tonight's 1st game of the World Series, but couldn't stay awake for the ending
I just saw the highlights a couple minutes ago on YouTube, what a finish, in extra innings how dramatic for Freddie Freeman with a sprain ankle becomes the Dodgers hero in this game

I fell asleep on the couch but woke up in the middle of the 8th inning — glad to see the Yankees ahead. I should have stayed asleep! :ROFLMAO:

TV was on whole game but I was also watching YouTube content on my computer. Some game key parts watched fully and others here and there with sound low. But did view the first couple innings and all scoring parts including the last two. Was glad to witness what will certainly be described as one of the most dramatic walk off home run endings in my lifetime.

At that point with Yankees ahead 3 to 2 with 2 out in the 10th inning and bases loaded, the pitcher Cortes just needed to get an out in any way. Cortes had already retired most dangerous Ohtani on a spectacular foul ball catch that deflated most of the Dodger's hopes. Then an intentional walk to dangerous Mookie Betts to load the bases. So odds were New York would win.

Game two was another nail biter.

The good news for Dodger fans: It came down to the last out in the top of the 9th, but the Dodgers managed to hold the Yankees at bay and left the field with a 2-0 series lead.

The bad news: Shohei partially dislocated his left shoulder while sliding into second. Manager Dave Roberts expects/hopes he'll be back in the lineup before the series is over.

Next games are in NY, when the crowd won't be chanting, "Let's go, Dodgers."

I hate baseball. My father, who hogged the TV during the season when I was young, is the cause of that. But I do find it interesting that the two (one former) New York teams were facing one another. They used to be the Brooklyn Dodgers vs the New York Yankees. I think my father was a Dodgers fan.

The Dodgers taking Yamamoto out of the game, nearly cost them the victory.

I say throw pitch counts and analytics out the window during the World Series. Managers are relying way too much on this information instead of going with their gut instincts.

The Toronto Blue Jays Manager shit the bed two years in a row relying on analytics.

My parents were from Brooklyn but moved out to Long Island in about 1915. We were expected to be Dodger fans and we were.

I watched part of last night's game, I was impressed by how well Dodger's starting pitcher Walker Buehler did. He certainly had his problems during the regular season
I saw the highlights on Youtube this morning, once again, Freddie Freeman hit another homer,my choice for MVP in the series

The Yankees seem to think it’s the 2025 pre-season games. Or maybe they are on a work slow down while they demand more pay.

Or maybe the Dodgers are hysterical out playing them on defense and especially offense?

Boring game last night. People in the stands were sleeping! :ROFLMAO:
In that stands? How about in the Yankee’s dugout? Those boys need to wake up.

The worst thing about the World Series coverage are the political ads. I already voted. They are painful to watch. Thank goodness for the mute button, and the FF button.

Know why it takes longer to get from 2nd to 3rd base rather than 1st to 2nd...because
there's a short-stop in between.😉

a little baseball humor for ya.

Humorous, yes- but in reality very true. The Short Stop player is usually quite intrusive in the runner's movement.
