This question does not apply to me as I am 74 with 75 wrinkles on my face alone..but for you would you chance meeting someone you spoke with online…would you be ok with your son or daughter meeting someone they spoke to online? if it were my daughter I would probably say ok and take the same plane.. I would be the one wearing the large hat with a different coloured hair!

Around 15 years ago I dallied with a lady online who lived in one of our southern states, and after a few months of that she wanted to meet in person. I was all set to buy her a plane ticket when I found out she was married. Naturally, I didn't fly her out here and I told her I didn't want to chat with her online anymore.

She hounded me online for almost a decade. Seemed like everywhere I went, she was there saying bad things about me. She even emailed my employer. I closed all my social accounts, switched to a new email account, and the employer who was holding my job open for me (while I recovered from surgery) told me he filled it and don't bother coming back.

So, in light of that experience, I'd have to say Nope.
 
Probably not. However if enough time was invested including talking on the phone and video chats. And some real investigation into who the person was, that agreed with what they were telling me... Maybe, but probably not.

I had a Sri Lankan friend who had an arranged marriage, their tradition. He was living in the US, and she in Sri Lanka. Both hired PIs to investigate each other before meeting, for the first time, at their wedding. The PIs seemed like a good idea to me. The whole arranged marriage thing not so much. It happened over 30 years ago and they are still happily married with 3 kids, so who am I to judge. Could you hire a PI?

Easy for me to comment, I am not, and never have been in that position. Best of luck with it.
 
No, besides the fact that I hate flying commercial, face to face encounters are for me. There's plenty of local women my age looking for companionship. I honestly don't look at it as searching for a soul mate.

I might would travel so far as a tank of gas would take me to meet a gal if she was interested in my motorcycle. If she rode her own I'd definitely go meet her half way. :)
