Wow!😮 just heard a fantastic monetary statement..

Don't you wish you were one of 70,000 new millionaires?
Not at all. I have enough in my allocated pension account to see me through to my final breath and a house to live in. I keep getting pestered by real estate agents to sell it and they want to provide me with a valuation of the property. I tell them that I am not interested because it will not be sold before I am dead. Until then, the valuation is irrelevant.

In reality, I am aware that my house isn't worth much but the land is valuable. The house is valuable to me as my home of 60 years come next February, and as a place where family can find shelter and come together for celebrations.

My brother in law was briefly a millionaire some decades ago. He won A$1,000,000 on Tatts Lotto but before long it was all gone. Today I am better off than he is.

It's too bad what happened to your brother in law.

Call it sour grapes but I don't think it is, but I've never strived to be wealthy. I always wanted to have a roof on my head, food on the table, good heath, and change in my pocket. So far except for a few minor setbacks, I've accomplished that. Hypothetically speaking, I have always dreamed that if I ever won the lottery, I would start an animal rescue. Since I'm no spring chicken, I probably wouldn't do it now, but I sure would help some of them out. Of course, you have to play the lottery to win the lottery which I seldom have done.

My son understands all the crypto and we have invested off and on for years and I’ve made about 50 K through the years. Nobody became a millionaire, but he did better than we did because he invested more money. I am now totally out of crypto because I’m not willing to take the risk any longer.

That links to a text news article.
watched it last night - Trump most senior finanacial advisor/manager during interview assured us it was all above board - he is allowed to have a private life which his family share with him? - current worth about 15 billion?? - don't quote me on the figure - the doco is worth a watch though
Is the documentary titled, Chasing Trump's Billions? If so, it's available on YouTube.

Let me get this straight. You need the internet, an electronic device and power to access your money. So if lose your phone or laptop, crack your screen or no power,...... you're stuck.

No thanks, I'll keep cash or gold in a safe.

I admit to not understanding the value behind of crypto currency but it's worth in dollars smacks of the hope that a "bigger fool" will pay more for it in the future.

I don't get the point of "blockchains" or what they're used for - other than to earn or secure crypto currency.

Sounds to me like the classic bubble that will one day burst. Since it is mostly unearned income, I won't consider that event a calamity unless the actual workers of the world take the hit.
Today's news says there's a revelation of a big crypto scam right now, for one form of crypto.

But the most recent crypto-currency super bubble bursting was in 2018. It was huge and swept many crypto systems, and very many people lost a whole lot of money... a lot of personal tragedies reported.

I was never tempted to invest in crypto. I knew some people who did, and they lost money in the 2018 crash. They didn't tell me how much.

The advice seems to be to invest while it's on an upswing, get out before you get befuddled with euphoria & reckless expectation.
