wow basic competency is gone ... a thing of the past

So i have had 2 deliveries just go missing .......never delivered at all ....... when contacting courier I hear " we are looking into it" nothing further ..

Today I contacted the business i was getting items from told them to look at this from their customer view...
the sub contractor reflects on them .... getting credit / refund back does not solve anything ...... if a person Needs or expects that item they will need to find it locally or something .....
I realize many small groups are trying to fill in gaps since deliveries have skyrocketed but how much bad service will a business put up with before cutting their losses. the package yesterday said Delivered ....
i started asking where did they deliver cause it was not here even walked to several neighbors houses to see if it was sent to wrong house......
This morning it was out on delivery scheduled to be here by 8pm with yesterdays date....... i clicked on email to ask where it is since last delivery with this service NEVER showed up .....
got the standard we are looking into it....... i contacted main company told them how this delivery group made the main company look bad....
now i get Nasty email from delivery company saying "it was delayed by weather and if i felt like complaining ..... who gives a crap"

wow is all i can say
Wow! I would defintely be sending a copy that that nasty response to as many people as I could think of. Starting with the company that hires them for delivery of their products!

The word is RESPECT, and sadly that's a thing gone by for the most part. If one has no respect for themselves, then they will have zero respect for you or anything to do with you.
I just do not see how companies put up with this stuff ...... my complaint is that when they say to expect something i give it a day extra....

i am more then happy to give leeway ..... but do not put in computer DELIVERED so i go looking for it then change it to oops not delivered then blame weather......do not know where it is....

Own up to any issue and i am fine but too many seem to give everyone a pass in being a lazy....... people will start to make excuses ......
i hear everyday "what do you care the main company will give you a refund.." ........ that is not the point at all ......

i did forward that to main company that hired these people....

it is simple respect type of thing............................. people do not order (at least not me) on a whim not really expecting to get it or not .... need a hobby to check their credit cards to see if the charges were reversed etc

We're assuming, of course, that the OP's contacting email to the carrier was civil and polite.

Random .01 cent charge x 6,000,000 customers who won't complain isn't bad.

my email said :
Do you know where my package is? it was not delivered according to the time frame stated in your tracking and said delivered last night.
This is the second delivery through your service that has not shown up or disappeared .
I will be contacting XYZ company to let them know this box is missing as i have had no other issue when sent through another party.

perhaps that is not as sugar coated as @StarSong would approve but this is frustrating........

That's a reasonable email.

Having owned a business, it shocked me how many people emailed or called with their guns blazing. They were firing at me before I had a chance to say hello, never mind learn what their issue was. Some were downright abusive.

I came to realize that their ugliness, impatience and fury had little to do with the problem at hand. It was how they managed problems and frustrations. Short fuses that they lit with blow torches.

worked in customer service as a management person in retail ...I know how ugly exchanges can become. i just thought people were smarter then to write something like they did in an email.

I have had emails from Walmart and Amazon saying something has been delivered and a picture of where it has been delivered. What a shock!! I go and get it at my door and its right where the picture said it would be. Right at a planter near my door. The rest of you have not had the same?

I sure have had that experience. Many times!

I do all my grocery shopping via Amazon. I track the delivery information closely, using the web site and my cell phone. Amazon's tracking feature eventually tells me how close the delivery truck is at the time. I usually go downstairs when it says there are 10 deliveries to go. I usually meet the driver, and open the door.

Sometimes I get caught off guard because the item arrives a day early, etc. The last time this happened, I had just woke from a nap. My phone rang, and I entered the code to let the driver into the building. The driver dumped the package near the door. When this happens, you don't always know where to look. Maybe sometimes you never see the package.

Over the past year, I called Amazon on the phone when I could. They always say they'll "investigate," but I never hear the results of the investigation. Recently Amazon stopped taking voice phone calls. They say they're "taking care if seniors instead!"

On the whole, I get best results when I am able to track the deliveries, and go to the lobby and wait for the driver.

Another kind thing my UPS store did when there were lines . Occupancy was restricted to 5 customers inside and late Dec -early Jan there were lines of people with returns outside, and a clerk would come outside to see who was there to pick up their deliveries, and bring out their package and paperwork if any.

I really hate being the "old grouchy guy", echoing our parents and grandparents who thought my generation was "going to the dogs". Customer satisfaction... work ethic... integrity... Where did it go? Attention to your work has been replaced with attention to your cell phone. Work ethic has been replaced by "what's in it for ME". Integrity??? You've got to be kidding!
I was always told that when you point a finger at someone, there are three fingers pointing back at you. If we made an error, fess up. Take the consequences but learn from it! Today, from laborer to CEO... it's always someone else's fault.
There are so many people who strive to excel in their chosen career/occupation. I try to go out of my way to commend them. Seems as if it's a shrinking minority.

When I was a kid it took nearly a week to get a mailed letter across town. It's one day now in most cases.

Packages cost a fortune to ship, took a long time to arrive, and often showed up dented or crumpled, even those specifying "fragile." No more.

Friends who moved out of state were mostly given up. The cost of long distance phone calls were outrageous. Now they're part of the bill.

Humans have been cutting across lawns for as long as lawns have existed. This isn't a new phenomena.

As for the younger generation, people have been whining about younger generations being lazy, disrespectful, spendthrifts for thousands of years. You'd think we'd have found a new refrain by now.

“[Young people] are high-minded because they have not yet been humbled by life, nor have they experienced the force of circumstances.
They think they know everything, and are always quite sure about it.”

Rhetoric, Aristotle

“The beardless youth… does not foresee what is useful, squandering his money.”
Horace

“Modern fashions seem to keep on growing more and more debased … The ordinary spoken language has also steadily coarsened. People used to say ‘raise the carriage shafts’ or ‘trim the lamp wick,’ but people today say ‘raise it’ or ‘trim it.’ When they should say, ‘Let the men of the palace staff stand forth!’ they say, ‘Torches! Let’s have some light!’”

I've had 5 separate shipping mishaps in the past couple months. Two from Amazon, one from Home Depot and two that were mis-delivered by the Post Office. Amazon will make you whole, will just ship you another one if it was lost or damaged. Home Depot accepted a return, had UPS pick it up and got credited back.
If the Post Office loses or steals your package, they will not take responsibility even if you had insurance.

My son sent his mother a cut boutique of roses for Valentines Day. (TRIED TO) On the morning of the 14th at about 9am I went outside only to find the bouquet of roses setting on a planter that was beside the front door. They were in a glass vase that was about 14" tall and the roses were setting in about 8" of water or liquid at least. The roses and the water was frozen solid (18 deg. F here). There was no number to call, no signature or anything to identify the person or agency that provided them. Finally on the bottom of the vase we found a krogers tag. We called krogers and they handed us off, person to person, store to store, and finally they gave us an 800 number. Called it and it was closed for valentines day. The next day we called, they said the sender would have to call. Got in touch with our son, told him the story and he called. I received a text from him today and he said you are suppose to get flowers today, It has been and unbelievable story but I will call you later to tell yo about. SO we stayed home all day today, to make sure we got the flowers in. It now 4:30, 12 F.....No flowers. SImpliest task we can not do or....we just don't want to..

Jeni, good for you for sending on your reply from that rude company.

Knowing there’re delays in the postal system, I didn’t start watching until the day of delivery and it promised to be delivered today, by the end of the day, tomorrow. For the the next five days, they kept saying the same thing. Finally on the Friday from Winnipeg which is 1000km away. The store had been pestering me to rate their product. So I did. 0-10 for ever recommending their company. So I gave it a 1. Continue to the next page and “You didn’t receive your parcel”? That’s the first time I’ve ever had an immediate reaction to a survey.

Got the jeans and they don’t fit. Might have ordered another size, but now am just fed up.

We have something come to the house once or twice a month. We do not get home delivery from the post office, we only have po box service in town. I have noticed in the past year FedEx simply leaves the package, doesn't even ring the bell and for the past 2 months UPS has done the same. Is this now something you have happening?

Yes, Fed ex we really have to watch for, because he will set it in the loading area (business) and drive off. UPS we can normally tell, we hear the package hit when he throws it onto the platform! Neither call, write or ask for a signature.

At least with today's technology, we can report those who provide poor service and "cancel" them online with bad reviews. Years ago, you could call up and talk to the manager, who was probably drinking buddies with whoever provided the bad service, and they probably laughed about it over a beer, so there were no repercussions.

I also worked in customer service most of my life, and I'll tell you, some of the people I talk to today on the phone could use a good dose of training! If I had treated my customers the way I get treated, my @ss would have been fired.

I'm always so tempted to tell them at the end of the call that they could use some c/s training. Click. :p

This problem is a LOCAL delivery service.... that basically .....i found out is just people in their regular cars....
no truck or van just give a bunch of random people packages to deliver with their personal cars ( like uber for packages) ..... when fed-ex is busy.......
it is either they pick packages to keep or they just do not want to finish delivering the packages.....

On the local news there was a video of a delivery person flinging the parcel from the street to the porch. The item was broken. TG for video monitoring. The jerk was fired. Not long ago it would have been - he said, he said.

When calling to discuss poor performance, when they say the call will be recorded for whatever excuse, respond that you too will be recording the discussion. If they can, we can.

exactly people would be fired .....................not anymore instead excuses are made.... retraining ( lol) ..... or "stop or i will say stop again" ......this is what happens when there is no accountability
