Your problems with Facebook

I made a thread about Facebook a few weeks ago, where I asked people whether I should use Facebook or not. After a pretty positive response, I decided to create an account.

However, I have some problems with the site. For one, they kept on sending me so many useless e-mails until I had to block their e-mail address! Also, the settings are sort of complicated.

I was wondering what problems do you face? How do you think Facebook could improve?

I don't think in my whole life I've gotten an email from Facebook. Maybe it's something new. I have no problem with them except for when they change things around and then I have to get used to a new format.

Other than that are you enjoying Facebook and connecting with family and friends?
 
Joined one day; UNjoined the next day. I 'm not really interested in whose brother-in-laws' ex wife is having for breakfast.
 

The email notification issue can be fixed in your settings. Click on the little "down arrow" on the right side of the blue tool bar, which will show you a drop down menu, click on settings and you find a lot of options to stop notifications
 
No problems. I cancelled my account as soon as I realized the site was for the use of the government in its spying on private citizens. Zuckie knew exactly who he was going to be in bed with, in addition to his bride. I cancelled my account after two weeks, many years ago.

Not many of them are on Facebook really. How about you?

Blocking them worked too! But thanks a lot.
 
Mjalali, I try to keep it to 100 friends and right now I have 113 so I'll be weeding some out soon. I have most of them on unfollow so I can't see what they are doing unless I go to their FB wall. I mostly keep up with close family, close neighbors and a few special friends. There are also groups that are locally for letting others on this mountain know that there are some cows or goats in the road or maybe a mountain lion was spotted on a trail cam closer to populated areas than usually. Many have lost cats or dogs to the mt lions and coyotes so we don't let our little dogs out after dark. Facebook is quite useful to the people where I live.

I'm also on a Facebook group for people in the city I am hoping to move to. I have a grandson that already lives there so its pretty interesting to me too. I'm on one joke FB group so I can get a few laughs every morning.

I also recently joined a group of people who just talk about decluttering their homes. Its turned out to be one of my favorite groups. I usually go on there to encourage people, since my mom was a hoarder, and a lot of them put before and after photos of what they have done. There are some sad stories on there with a few people that are quite depressed. Since I have been in that situation when I was a little girl I can identify with these people and help them.
 
kburra, doesn't what you are talking about ask for donations? A person can just manually do everything that company does. From what I'm seeing in your post anyway. Its been my experience once anyone asks for donations they never give up asking.
 
I joined FB when my 2 grandsons started going on FB. I just wanted to keep an eye on them to make sure they were safe ,because they were young when they joined. Now I just go on to see their pictures of them playing sports or traveling etc. I never comment on their page because I am their Grandmom not a young person.

Have use the extension for a couple of years now and NEVER been asked for donation,like most independent developers to make new programs they need financial support,but is not mandatory,just a request...anyway is just an addon so can remove or disable with one click.

All my kids and spouses/significant others are on facebook. The older grandkids are on facebook. Many of my friends are too, so for me it's a great place to connect with the people I care about.

Like Linda, I'm also on a variety of facebook groups, and also Marketplace. A couple of the groups are private so only those invited even know they exist. I find facebook to be beneficial and informative, and a convenience to me.

I have been using FB Purity for several years also and have never been asked for a donation. It is really good in hiding. For example, I don't care about seeing everything that my friends have clicked on like or everything little thing they comment on, so I have FB Purity hiding it.
 
FB always posts people who I might be friends with--total random strangers.
I delete all of them. If I mention a personal interest, then they send me so
many newsy images and stories, I have to delete it.
 
I have a very small circle of FB friends who I knew before I got an account, and I don't accept friend requests, ever since my account was hacked and my computer got a virus from it after accepting a friend request.
