Mother says son with long hair denied admission to 2 schools

Oh lord, the long hair again!

No one knows the length of Jesus' hair or even if he was bald.

Some researchers think his hair and those of people in the area may even have been short.

I can't believe how stupid these "schools" are and the kid is lucky to be turned away.

I disagree totally with the school policy, as long as the hair is clean, but, having seen this kids hair I can’t understand the parents expecting the poor little thing to walk round, play games etc.with that lot hanging round him 24/7 ! It’s nearly as big as his body, must be so hot and uncomfortable for him and in my opinion, looks ridiculous, inviting bullying as well

Schools have dress codes. Jobs have dress codes. Religions have dress codes. If you don't like it, find another one and move on. Is this kid cute? Yes, but that's not the point. Would his hair be a distraction in the classroom? I think so. I'd say they could tone this down if they chose, and he's still be cute. If you don't want to conform, that's fine; just don't complain when you're excluded because of it.

AND we also don't hear the schools' side of things. Were his grades good enough? Did he meet the other requirements? What was his behavior like? Maybe one, or both sides, are using the hair as an excuse. Or not. Problem is, we don't know the whole story.

Every one of my boys (I have 4) at one time had very long hair...like past the shoulders. That was their choice, my only requirement was that they kept it clean and brushed. At different times in their lives, they each made choice to wear it shorter, and I was thrilled to hear that they each chose to donate those long tails to Locks of Love, an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients from human hair.

Paige my daughter has three young children, two boys and a girl. River, the oldest boy, has hair past his shoulders. Milo, the youngest has almost a crewcut. Why? Bacause they each expressed a desire to have their hair that way, and Mom obliged. She's long since explained to River that because of his pretty face and long hair, he will often get mistaken for a girl, and they've discussed that as a consequence of his choice. He's fine, and very matter of fact when he's referred to as a she. He just calmly tells the person "I'm a long haired boy" and goes on about his business. It's really funny to watch the reactions when he does this. :ROFLMAO: Adults get very flustered, whereas kids just say "oh, ok" and move on.

The kid'll be in for a shock if he joins the military or is drafted. (if it's in place again when he comes of age) Most likely can't be hired in any number of places due to dress codes, etc..

I'm more puzzled by his folks feeling that it's of great importance to have this somewhat odd and impractical appearance. Maybe they're just looking for notoriety and a few TV shots?

If theyre anything like my daughter, and like me, all They probably care about is their child being allowed to have dominion and Choice over his own body.

Looks like the boys are required to wear ties, will the mother buck that too if her son decides he prefers a tee shirt?

We are all free to express our individuality, but not always using the method we'd prefer. As a kid it would have greatly suited me to start school at 10 am. The school system didn't see it that way. I adapted.

I come down on the side of the school. It's a private school. Their school, their rules. Disagree with their demands? Send your kids somewhere else.
Last I checked, England was a free country...

From what I see today, many young and old want to do whatever they want to and don't care about rules or policies. What is bad is when the parent acts more like a buddy than a parent. Parents know how their kids should look, when attending school, but...…..
