Federal Law Enforcement Use Unmarked Vehicles To Grab Protesters Off Portland Streets

As far as you making sport of the 911 calls being answered by social workers - that is what is recommened in Seattle and Portland by the Marxist leaders. Good luck with that. Hopefully you live in a safe area. When you need police and they can't come to help you - remember it is what YOU wanted.

Huh? Making sport? Old and in the Way, you are completely misunderstanding both my comment and what is going on.

I was asked what I would do if my home was broken into. I answered very honestly, that I would call 911 and hope for a quick and appropriate response by the police. If you have been reading these topics at all, you may remember that I have written about my appreciation for the hard-working police, and told the story of one in particular that I fondly remembered from my childhood. Why in the world would you think this was making sport?

Old and in the Way, here's an idea for you to mull over: In a civilized society, there is a big difference between local law enforcement (following local ordinances and the U.S. Constitution), and a goon squad of fascist-appointed quasi-military roughnecks. Those pictures in the posts above tell us what is happening there, better than I ever can. This is going on in the U.S.? Shame on us for letting it happen!

And all the "violence," "rapes," etc. that you refer to is at least 99% fictitious hype, done for propaganda. Sort of like all the Mexicans who were supposedly sneaking across the border to rape American women. Hard to discuss this without getting "political," but you get my drift. Looting is bad, and did take place, and should have been dealt with by the local police. If they were "rioting," the same thing applies. A "federal" police force that looks like the Normandy invasion, or something out of Star Wars, is not needed to arrest a few punks for looting stores. This is terrorism for terrorism's sake.

As for the "protestors" being anarchists, their right to protest is protected by our Constitution. It's practically the first thing in it. Thank God our Founding Fathers had enough sense to predict this.

Protesting against murder by sociopathic cops, again and again, is not "anarchy." It is the duty of every decent person. And when the murders keep occurring, against people who were clearly posing no threat against the police, yes, Old, it gets ugly. Or maybe, if Floyd had asked more politely to have the cop remove his knee, it would have ended differently?

P.S. What on earth does Marxism have to do with any of this? Do you even know what Marxism is?

As Keith Sweat sang "Something, something just ain't right"!! Unknown entities should not be throwing people into unmarked vehicles. I read today that #45 is ready to send 75,000 more into the major cities.

Some officials feel it will only make matters worse. My son told me about mid-May that if the circumstances brought about by CV-19 continued he would give it a month before we see anarchy. While COVID is not the only reason for these protests...regardless of the causes, we certainly don't need an escalation of the current situation!

Shame on us for letting it happen!

For me it's more like shame on those in command for allowing their subordinates take part in unconstitutional acts. I also say shame on the subordinates for following orders to do unconstitutional acts.

The excuse of "just following orders" has been used too often in the past to excuse horrible acts.

For those wondering why at least some of the acts done by the federal agents is unconstitutional I think the following article does a good job of explaining it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/outl...e9822c-cceb-11ea-91f1-28aca4d833a0_story.html

Your son was right and so was I predicting this back in med April.

There is nothing ironic at all about a President whom, fmdog44 thinks has no constitutional or political education, is sending in troops. First of all, after 3 yrs. in office the President has quite a bit of constitutional and political knowledge and further, he is the Commander in Chief of all the Military. When the situation gets out of hand and no solution is working on the local or state level, the federal government is looked to for assistance. This is to protect all civilians from further terror. The military was formed for just that in the beginning. Not to be sent off to foreign lands to protect their citizens. Also, the news reports are writing only one side of what is actually happening, so please show some temperance before judging. Let us hope all this simmers down shortly as too many lives are being lost and traumatized otherwise on both sides of this coin. We have enough to deal with over the COVID problem.

It’s not that I am disagreeing with you. I actually don’t object to the federal troops and if I lived in one of these cities I would welcome them. But it’s unconstitutional, as the regular troops are to be used only overseas. The office of the president does not have this power and I am surprised the generals are putting up with it.

Except the president can fire the generals.

This behavior has exposed a weakness in our constitution and government and exposes us to an overthrown government and a possible dictatorship at any time by any president. I am sure it will be corrected at one point by Congress as will other issues which have been exposed.

The governors of the states can ask for federal help in the form of the national guard. But the governors must invite the feds in, as they did in the era of civil rights. Still, it’s all very interesting and I hope I live at least another year.

I hate to miss the ending of a show.

I do disagree with you in stating that the military use at home is unconstitutional. It most certainly is not except as posse comitus. You can look that part up. But I, as a former member of the military know this as a fact. However, usually the National Guard as opposed to regular active duty service personnel is usually called upon for assistance. If Governors do not request assistance and insurrection escalates, the President is authorized to declare martial law in certain circumstances. I recall Kennedy, Eisenhower, Johnson and even Obama in recent times having done this. Again, one must remember, the president is the Commander in Chief.

Absolutely!! They're sending federal agents here, and apart from some demonstrations early on, we're not having trouble, especially not wholesale destruction, rapes, rioting and looting. It simply is not happening.

I would add that even if it were, the constitution gives all of us certain rights -- even rioters -- and one of them is the right not to be forcibly detained and thrust into unmarked cars by unidentified brownshirts under any circumstances. That's what they do in countries ruled by tyrants and dictators.

We have troops deployed in Victoria right now because of the coronavirus. The Premier has requested help with virus testing so army medical personnel are now involved. There is also a lot of contact tracing going on and army staff in camouflage gear are visible supervising quarantine and lock down areas. If people who are supposed to be socially isolated in their own homes are not answering the phone, they can expect a knock on the door by a couple of army chaps. If they are out and about, the police will issue a hefty fine and they may have to go into full quarantine.

No-one minds the military being used in this way to supplement state police and health workers. They do not carry arms while performing these functions. Australians would not like it one bit if they did.

During the last bushfire season the military helped out but only after the state premiers asked for their assistance with evacuations. They also helped to transport food and other supplies to communities cut off by the fires. Helicopters are an asset at such times.

I have never in my lifetime seen troops used to control the public. They do line the road during a royal visit but this is basically a ceremonial function. They wear dress uniforms, not battle dress.

Warrigal's post should be embarrassing to all Americans.
Their military actually performing social functions in their time of crisis!

Our military is doing what? At the very least our National Guard could be performing similar functions.
We throw rocks at each other regarding events, yes-important events, but now is not
the time for chunking rocks.

This is an election year, remember that- it has a great impact on events: good and bad.

Sunny, You speak of "fascist, appointed quasi-military roughnecks" for the Federal Marshal's service operating under the Department of Justice.
In Portland, a few agents are from the Department of Homeland Security but most are Federal Marshals.
My late husband was a Federal Marshal. These are carefully selected men of courage, honor, and the highest qualities and values. Federal Marshals are chosen individually and appointed by the President of the United States, to uphold lawfulness and justice in America. My husband sought out and killed 11 wanted criminals during his life in one on one, face to face gunfights. He and his peers in the Marshal's service were the most honorable of men. To have you demean and degrade their service to America is cruel.
The President of the United States has not only the right but the obligation to enact the Marshal's service when local and state government fail to protect the American citizens. These are not "protesters". These are "anarchists".

There was a time when our military was respected and we all felt comfortable around service personnel. Ever since Viet Nam we've been demonized into what some here call fascists. Whatever for is beyond me. At any rate, I do no acknowledge anyone thanking me for my service since I think as is demonstrated here, it's so hypocritical. Don't thank me. I was there because I wanted to be.

There is a huge difference between Federal Troops and Federal Agents. Federal Troops are military, Federal Agents are not. In Portland are Federal Agents sent there by Homeland Security. Actually, they do wear badges on their uniforms that state "Police" because they also act as Federal Police, which they are in reality CBD Agents or Custom and Border Protection Agents. CBD Agents

The President does have the powers to protect all Federal property. For the past almost 3 weeks now, this out of control mob, (probably ANTIFA), has attempted to enter and burn down Federal buildings in Portland by breaking down doors and throwing fire bombs at the buildings. On a normal night, if you can call it that, most of the peaceful protesters have gone for the night. Around midnight is when the mob comes out and starts raising hell.

As for picking up peaceful protesters, this again is another falsehood. The people being picked up have been identified as people of interest and wanted for other crimes. Some are arrested and some are released. These are not Nancy Pelosi's Storm Troopers. Not a single Democrat has so much as lifted a finger to stop the rioting and chaos. If left unchecked, who knows what America would look like in 30 days?

In New York on the Brooklyn Bridge, another mob attacked the police attempting to hold a peaceful march for Unity. Even the head of the police department was attacked and bloodied by a person wielding a metal pole of some type, like a baseball bat. Thankfully, that person was identified and has been arrested, but because New York requires no bail, he was issued a "get out of jail free card."

Just the other night, Ted Wheeler, mayor of Portland attempted to march with the mob, but was greeted by the mob chanting, "Quit your job."
Wheeler So now the mob has turned on the Mayor, yet he still defends them. Some of these people believe that they are playing a virtual video game. I can assure you that this is anything but a game. If you have been in a war, then you know your life is hanging by a thread each and every moment that you stand before the enemy.

All of these Mayors took an oath of office. None of the Mayors in the cities being held captive by the mobs had upheld that oath. They all need to be ashamed of themselves. America was once a great country to live in for everyone. We weren't perfect and we could have done better, but we were a heck of a lot better off than we were just a little over 2 months ago.

You’ve never seen troops control the public in your country, you mean. You’ve seen troops control the public in Russia, China, and other places. The USA is on a slippery slope, IMO.

I simply cannot imagine the courage your husband (And others) displayed in the demands of his/their job. It is certainly equal, if not greater, than my husband‘s service as a combat marine in Vietnam.

It is like everything else in life, there are those who sit on the sidelines doing nothing but blah, blah, blah, and those that serve. Your husband service is appreciated by us all, despite any ignorant words to the contrary.
