The movies that I didn't get were those that I was dragged to as a child by my parents, possibly to avoid the cost of paying a baby sitter. They were movies like The Manchurian Candidate and The Lion in Winter. Good movies for an adult, but just way above my head as a child, and two hours plus is a long time to be expected to sit quietly in a theater seat with something playing before you that you didn't understand. I can remember being dragged to see Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe?, and being scared and sickened by those adults yelling at and being nasty to one another. Kids in those times seemed to be expected to accommodate themselves more to parents than is the case today, when parents will sit through a boring or inane kiddie movie for the sake of their children...
