It may have been the ending or the entire movie. I didn't get 2001 A Space Odyssey at all. The ending of Kiss Of The Spider Woman had me scratching my head. The person I saw it with didn't get it either. Which one(s) left you in the dark? No pun intneded. :)

Watched it decades ago
Thought it would be good because Burt Lancaster is a good actor
His acting ability was wasted on this flick
It's still the top of my WTF? list

It's one of those 'this is building...it'll get better' movies
Didn't happen

There's others, but this one remains prominent

2001 A Space Odyssey didn't make much sense to me either. If it had a plot, I missed it completely.

The Shape of Water- terrible movie, really couldn't follow it,was surprised it won 4 Academy Awards
The only reason I went to see this movie I like actress,Octavia Spencer who was in it
She's been in a couple other movies I've liked "The Help'{she won Best Supp Actress Oscar for her role of maid'Minnie},Hidden Figures,The Shack'

Just recently on Hulu. The Assistant. Kept waiting for the story to get started, next thing I knew the credits appeared on the screen. What? If you stream Hulu and have thought about tuning in, don't. Vox called it "one of the year's best movies." The Decider asks "stream it or skip it" and says "stream it." I say, I'll never get back the time wasted on watching it. There was a beginning, no middle, no end.

I loved A Space Odyssey, and pretty much got the point of it, maybe because I had read a lot of the writings of Arthur C. Clarke before I ever saw the movie.

What I usually don't get is the film noir type of movie, with convoluted, complicated plots, and sudden surprise endings. Just saw one like that the other day, Taking Lives. I got lost and lost interest pretty early; besides I never believed Angelina Jolie as an FBI agent!

I like 2001: A space odyssey; I didn't need to "get it", I just like it anyways. Never heard of Interstellar. The Butterfly Effect - need to ask hubby to find that movie for me. I loved the Shape of Water. I loved the Shining and the remake. I will watch Angeline Jolie in ANYTHING - she is awesome. I have watched many movies that I didn't get but can't think of the name of one of them.

The movies that I didn't get were those that I was dragged to as a child by my parents, possibly to avoid the cost of paying a baby sitter. They were movies like The Manchurian Candidate and The Lion in Winter. Good movies for an adult, but just way above my head as a child, and two hours plus is a long time to be expected to sit quietly in a theater seat with something playing before you that you didn't understand. I can remember being dragged to see Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe?, and being scared and sickened by those adults yelling at and being nasty to one another. Kids in those times seemed to be expected to accommodate themselves more to parents than is the case today, when parents will sit through a boring or inane kiddie movie for the sake of their children...

I had the same experience as a very young child going with my mom and dad to see Ben Hur when it came out . I remember the movie theater having stars on the ceiling. I guess I spend 90% of that four hours staring at those stars šŸ˜†

I never got the entire concept of Inception. I know there is a good movie in there somewhere and I usually enjoy those types of movies but this one flew way over my head.

Have you read the Cheever story it's based on? One of my favorites, but definitely not an obvious choice for adapting into a film.

We watched FearX the other night and even though John Turturro was great, the ending was ridiculously vague and the whole thing felt like a film student got a grant from the Danish film board and decided to rip off David Lynch.

@Fyrefox and @CinnamonSugar I remember my mother took me to see Man With The Golden Arm starring Frank Sinatra. Knowing her, in retrospect, I'm surprised she went to see it. I didn't get it at all until I read the synopsis as an adult.
