No Politics! Early Voting Was Very Easy and Well Organized In My SC County

How do those counting know if it’s a duplicate ballot? Are Social Security numbers, or something similar, listed on your ballot? I thought your vote was a secret. Your system is very confusing to a non-American.

We have a provincial election going on. I chose not to do a mail-in, which you could apply for. Instead it will be by early voting because of Covid precautions. My eligibility card has arrived, I’ll take it to my polling station, and I’ll be checked off the official list. I’m sick of election ads of any kind.

The main objective of voting is to vote. Duh! How you do it really doesn't matter. Standing around on a blustery day in a long line for hours doesn't encourage people to vote. While politics is verboten here in this forum,, in my county, which is heavily one party, the areas , which vote the other way, have long lines at the voting booth. The areas, which generally vote for that party don't have any lines. Gee, Imagine that. Nope, no lines at the post office. If you vote in person , or by mail, it's still one man one vote.

I wondered the same thing, Jules. But I'm sure in this day and age of computers, there are safeguards against that happening. Probably once your vote is recorded, your computer voting record is updated with a "has voted" electronic check mark or whatever they call it. And all subsequent ballots are electronically thrown out.

Here's a thought that occurred to me: What happens if a candidate dies during this early election period? There would have to be a new candidate, but what about all the people who voted early? Would they get a second chance?

There is a web site offered by the Board of Elections where I live. On this site, you can check the status of your mail-in vote. I haven't checked yet, just mailed yesterday. So, there is a record if someone tries to vote twice.

Being disabled is a different story. You are one of the few that should have mail in available {IMO} I myself may need it likely before the next election.

As for waiting in line, for an able bodied person ? No excuse ........ go vote.
Lets see, I voted by mail the entire 31 years that I was in the Navy. All of the foreign service employees, contractors serving overseas, people like my daughter who was permanently assigned to Hong Kong for eight years, anyone who is traveling on vacation or business on election day, anyone who is disabled or in the hospital also voted by absentee ballot. There are lots of us who vote or have voted by mail-in ballot.

I have always voted in person and I have even worked in the polling place many times. I am worried this year about voting either in person or by mail in voting. I worry about what radical actions might occur at the polling places. The world today is crazy.

You feelings are justified.
