Do you put syrup on your pancakes?

Hoe cakes were originally corn pone cakes (the simplest form of corn bread consisting of just cornmeal and water) baked on the blade of a hoe over a fire. I'm sure later they came to mean other things.

My corn cakes are just pancake batter with whole kernel corn mixed in.
Thank you for the clarification. First I ever heard of pancakes with corn kernels mixed in!

We have Vermont real maple syrup on hand always. Ron loves his pancakes or waffles drowned in the stuff!

I seldom eat either. When I do, I might dip bites into a bit of maple syrup, but I’m more likely to spread apple sauce or drizzle honey over mine.

We don't have pancakes in my country ... not American pancakes, that is. But when Iived in the U.S. I used to like buckwheat pancakes with butter and maple syrup. Some people even put an egg on it but I didn't think egg goes well with syrup.

Here, in Sweden, we have something called smörgÄstÄrta which means sandwich cake. And that's exactly what it is. It's cake/bread but instead of frosting it's covered in mayonnaise then we put all the things you'd put on a sandwich: lettuce, tomato, lemon slice, thin slices of ham, shrimp/crayfish, cucumber, sliced hard-boiled egg, etc. It may sound weird but it's darned good!

How about pancake tacos!

My hubby loves pancakes with strawberries and cream.
I have to eat gluten free but I never was a pancake lover. I did find a recipe made from cornmeal and molasses that I make for myself once in awhile. Really good with whipped cream or cool whip.
Although pancakes are filling I feel like I'm having desert and an hour later I'm looking for the main meal.
