Here where I live they would have sent out the sheriff to haul you in. They do that routinely.
This is really not worth my time anymore.

Exactly what makes our justice system the joke that it is. They try to force people who are totally unsuitable for jury duty to be jurors. Here where I live they would have sent out the sheriff to haul you in. They do that routinely.
On what planet is disrespect a crime? They have my address; if they could legally arrest me, they would have.@Butterfly
Surprised they didn't haul him in for his nasty disrespect and name calling to the court employee - assuming his story is true and not embellished.
If you remember, he almost was. The other jurors had to hold back Lee J. Cobb (he was the hottest head on the panel and had a personal agenda). But my previous experiences were far removed from the movie drama. You're not going to find a Henry Fonda in most trials. That type of foreman would probably be beaten up.
Yes, there are some cases I would not want to serve on, like child or animal abuse.
This town of 30,000 people are now calling people for jury duty. We have a lot of Meth problems and other drug problems here. I think the area is running out of people never been in trouble with the law? What would keep a person from jury duty?
Jury duty is a civic duty similar to voting.I have no desire to waste my time on jury duty.
^^^ One of the reasons I won't be a part of a corrupt, pathetic, useless justice system.I served on a jury back in 1981. Drunk driving offense. We found the guy guilty. Read later in the newspaper the guy got probation.
Same here. Was called but was excused because of being in law enforcement in the military for 23 years. In fact when my son was called for jury duty when asked what kind of work his father did and he answered law enforcement in the military they stopped the questions and excused him also. Was called many times over the next 30 years, but was excused because of being employed with law enforcement agencies.
This is exactly how I feel. The jury system is not the most efficient way of trying someone. Instead of having members of the public, most of whom would prefer not to be there, there should be professional jurors. We have magistrates judging minor offences, so why not for more serious crimes?I submitted my last audiogram, when I was called, about six months ago. Result: Permanent exemption.
I never liked the process, I never was picked. A waste of my time, times four.
Don't even get me started on the whole very unfair jury trial system, with lawyers manipulating the selection process to try to slant things in their favor even before opening arguments.
