I disagree completely with schools administering any form of corporal punishment and am aghast that it's still legal in so many (mostly southern, deeply conservative) US states. Heaven help any administrator who would have dared lay a hand on one of my children.
My point was that the mother knew what was happening and then cried foul. That she videoed it makes me suspect she'd had this idea in the back of her mind all along. Sorry if I wasn't clear about where I stand on school paddlings.
Yes and no, Star.
Sure, the mother may have knew what was happening, but as the mother said in the video, "
the hatred in which she hit my daughter, I mean it was a hatred that, really, I've never hit my daughter like she hit her, I had never hit her". Mother breaks down crying.
The mother goes on to say, "
I sacrificed my daughter, so all the parents can realize what's happening in this school".
I believe the mother. I believe the mother was under the pretense that one, two, maybe three reserved spanks would be administered, but not the wind-up that the principal took upon herself to apply. I also believe the mother may have felt that a school administered paddling would resonate more with her daughter than at home.
There's shock value attached to this for the mother, and it did unfold fast, allowing little to no time for the shock value of the event to register with the mother before she could act.
The most scary part of all this, is the total and complete disregard the principal extended to both child and mother, completely and totally on a mission to show the world what a hero she is, which makes me wonder just how the child would have been punished had no parent been there. Now that's scary!
And even MORE scarier (and creepy) is the school system asking that parents come to the school in order to administer spankings on their misbehaving children. What sort of demented freaks are behind school policies in Florida?
I encourage any and all parents to take the law into their own hands if ever their child is abused like that. No one should be allowed to get away with that! You don't even discipline your own child that way, so who the hell does the school system and principal think they are!
