I happened to see this new blurb.
I've always been baffled that anyone ever cared about it in the first place. I don't care who my neighbor marries, I only want them to live on their own money.I happened to see this new blurb.
Record-High 70% in U.S. Support Same-Sex Marriage
We have same sex marriage, and Armageddon didn't materialize. I recall when the TV interrupted shows, "BREAKING NEWS- Supreme Court Okays Gay marriage". Now, nobody cares about it.
Agree. No license, no lawyer, no fuss; just a community official, and I guess a witnesses, and then put it on record.I don't understand why civil union wasn't enough. It grants the same rights as marriage.

Yeah, but (imo) that shouldn't be the case at all. Government should have nothing whatsoever to do with marriage.
- Civil union is not recognized by all states. On the other hand, marriage is valid throughout the world.
- Marriage gives couples the right to file joint tax returns, and also gives them certain tax protection and tax breaks. ...
If they did not intervene, interracial couples could still be prevented from marrying, same applies with same sex marriages..Yeah, but (imo) that shouldn't be the case at all. Government should have nothing whatsoever to do with marriage.
How do you figure? Legislation and politics have interfered with affairs of the heart far more than people have. I dare say people would think nothing of who married who if not for politics (and religion, but to each his own in that case, literally). If they did not intervene, interracial couples could still be prevented from marrying, same applies with same sex marriages..
Supreme court decisions forbade states from marriage discrimination is all I'm pointing out.How do you figure? Ok, that's what I thought. My point has been that I don't think any branch of gov't should be involved in marriage at all.Supreme court decisions forbade states from marriage discrimination is all I'm pointing out.
Me neither!I've just never understood why some people get so riled up and sanctimonious about who other people love, live with or sleep with. It's nobody else's business.
Public opinion of same-sex marriage in the United StatesWhere did this 70% approval come from, San Francisco? Statistics can be skewed by selective polling to acquire the desired result. What were the results in the bible belt?
I'd say it's record high!I happened to see this new blurb.

I looked this up, and it does appear to be true for the U.S. , not just the San Francisco area. It even says that a small majority of Republicans now support gay marriage!Where did this 70% approval come from, San Francisco? Usually, these Gallup polls are highly regarded, so I think it's probably valid.
Procreation? Some people can't have children for medical reasons and some like me, don't want them because of my own childhood or other personal reasons.I agree. I know a gay couple who were together over 20 years before they were able to marry. I attended the wedding and it was great.
Some opponents use the "procreation" argument. Gay and lesbian couples can adopt. PLUS, what of people who marry later in life (like me and Rick) or who choose not to have children.
It all goes back to who does it hurt? Not me.
I agree with you. It IS a completely lame excuseProcreation? Some people can't have children for medical reasons and some like me, don't want them because of my own childhood or other personal reasons.
It's the lamest excuse that they use.
