When you were in school was your first name popular?

Not only was there never another Ginna in school (even spellcheck just told me I misspelled it lol) I have never, ever met another with my name. It IS a nickname though, and there was another girl in high school who had the same "real" name as me,but she didn`t go by it either. She went by her middle name,Ann.

Yes, there were 5 of us in kindergarten with the same first name. Currently, I work at an elementary school, TK - 3rd grade with about 325 students, and there is only 1 student who shares my name. And now it seems parents are doing their best to find all kinds of weird ways to spell names. Also, I noticed names with "ton" and "on" at the end are popular: Kolton, Weston, Payton, Teyton, Easton, Dalton, Carson...

For a couple of years in grade school I got away with spelling my name terrie or teri until a teacher called me on it. She did not understand that spelling it Terry made people think I was a boy.

I would have loved to have been named after a flower. Many women in my family were and classmates also.
I never liked my name, and changed it through the years to Lillian .. which I also never liked

edit: I was named after my father's British war-buddy's sister, and my little brother was named after his buddy.

In my class, there were 7 girls named Barbara. If the Nun called out the name 7 girls would stand up.
At work we have several guys named Brian. Emails tend to be sent to multiple group lists, and then if the email starts out 'Brian,' and asks a question, it is common for the wrong Brian to reply that he doesn't know about that area. But no matter how many times our Brians ask people to use a last initial we all just throw questions out to 'Brian'.

No. I've always gone by my middle name, not my choice but I'm glad it worked out that way since I dislike my first name even more than my middle name. And I've only met 1 person by each name and that was after I became an adult.

It has such great vintage behind it! :)

If your location would have read Canada, I would have asked you a few questions to see if you and I went to school together!

As the old saying goes, it's a small world.
I went to High School and college in Ruston, Louisiana with a year at U of I ...but I would loved to have gone to school with you :)

Awww... what a sweetie you are, Serenity!

One thing I keep forgetting is my age in relation to so many others on the forum. I'm definitely one of the younger ones here... a 1963 baby.

Enjoy and appreciate it 😃 ..it is amazing how quickly time passes..you turn around and think.."what happened" how did I get to this age so quickly
I battle those very thoughts all too often, Serenity.

Brings me down and makes me so sad at times wondering where my younger years went.

Aging and death, two things I have never been good with and will never be good with. Life is cruel that way.
