Afghanistan terrorism starting

As could be expected, there was a terrorist bombing outside of the Kabul airport this morning...several dead or injured. This is probably the first of many such events that will be occurring there in coming days, as the radicals begin to ramp up their campaigns. I just hope the remaining Americans and our troops get out of that madhouse before it completely falls apart.

This was an evitability. And they didn't need captured high tech surveillance gear, internet or saturation news coverage to realize the cities and airports are target rich environments. The zealots WILL make their statements

From what I've read it supposedly was done by either ISIS or by a lone wolf character. We'll see what happens next.

The withdrawal of the US troops was not a surprise move. Preparations were agreed upon in Feb. 2020. American citizens wanting to leave should have been gone already or were some being held there against their will?

1,500 Americans remain in Afghanistan, so we need to average getting 300 out per day to meet the deadline. That seems doable.
It seems the number changes with who the speaker is. I think this is done so that come Monday, they can tell us that all Americans that wanted out are out.

That's what I was thinking. The original withdrawal date was May 1, which was extended to August 31. Why did they wait to get out? What did they expect was going to happen?

Isis had all but been eliminated, but it’s kind of like cutting the tail off the gecko. If you don’t kill it, it will surely regenerate itself. This is what we’re seeing happen.

According to what I listened to this morning the attack is the work of a group designated ISIS-K and they are a splinter group of the Taliban. They are more radical and support the idea of a caliphate that encompasses all of the Islamic world. The Taliban is not interested in the caliphate.

The attack was in three stages - first a suicide bomber amongst people waiting outside the main gate to the airport. Then there was a firefight with US soldiers guarding the airport. The third phase was another suicide attack at an hotel where people who were waiting to be escorted to the airport.

Fantastic ! By all means, let them kill each other. As long as they are busy murdering each other, they are not murdering us.
Terrorist are not selective: Man, women, children or US Troops, it does not matter.
We will continued to have a handful of people there to monitor events, our agents from Muslim Countries.

The bombing is now in the hand of the experts, with their yak, yak; rubbing our bellies with things we want to hear.
Some discuss how dire the situtation; the others say, 'Here's what we need to do.'

Watching panic stricken people, with only the possessions they can carry rushing to unknown destinations -No this should not be!

Since I can not determine precisely what is and is not political, I'll no longer post anything about Afghanistan

The way this entire "evacuation" is being handled brings one old Military slang to my mind....FUBAR!
This is one of the biggest evacuations in history. Since August 13, over 12,000 people have been evacuated. It's definitely a f'ed up situation, but it could be a lot worse.

I just hope the religious nuts aren't able to shoot down one of the carriers full of refugees. They'll no doubt try.

That is probably the biggest concern. With all the more sophisticated weapons the Taliban have acquired from the Afgan military, I'm sure there are some of these radicals who are thinking about attacking a plane full of these refugees as it takes off. We'll be very lucky if this evacuation proceeds without an aircraft being shot down.

This is one of my main concerns. Passenger planes are not equipped with "radar homing" devices. These devices alert the pilot as to when a SAM has locked onto their aircraft.

Withdrawing and leaving our war toys behind is good for the economy - defense economy, that is. Defense contractors can gear up to replace them now. And then we will have to invade some other country because ........ well look, the new toys will have to be used, won't they. Otherwise someone will be saying we should have been rebuilding our own roads and bridges instead of guns and missiles.

No need to worry. We just sold a bunch of these to Qatar.

The Qatar Emiri Air Force will soon have its first set of F-15QA jets after the aircraft's unveiling on Wednesday at Boeing's factory in St. Louis.
The Pentagon awarded the contract to Boeing last November to develop the F-15QA, which it has described as the most advanced version of the jet to date.

Remember our hunt for the stinger missiles that we were trying to recover.

Qatar- they have huge amounts of money, but why are they buying all this expensive hardware.
I have no knowledge of their potential enemies-You?

Watch the national and local news-get your daily dose of depression.

Idle thought-the refuges-i would wager few have received any vaccine

They rule by Sharia law, which by definition is oppressive — especially towards women. Flogging is standard punishment for many crimes, including alcohol consumption. They openly fund terrorists throughout the world including ISIS, who we've been fighting for the past 20 odd years.

But, as long as military contractors can make a buck, it's all overlooked.

Afghan vaccine rate is 0.6% of the population as of yesterday so yeah, pretty safe to assume not many, if any, of the refugees are vaccinated.
