Good News: McDonald's Just introduced its first-ever Vegan burger.

I ordered Beyond Meat (soy free) burgers and tried to convince myself they taste good. No matter what flavoring I added to improve their taste, it didn't take away their IMO awful flavor. No taste/flavor of meat came through. I have chosen to stick to true meat. As far as cruelty to beef/cattle/animals for food, research to learn what has changed for the better, more merciful, in how they are put down. What absolutely sickens me is killing for animal head trophies, killing not for needed food--those hunters I consider mentally sick.

The people practicing killing/hunting of trophy animals as a "sport" would have no problem at all, doing it against human beings if they weren't afraid of the law and its consequences. A person who derives pleasure in killing another being for fun is mentally sick!

I'm sorry you didn't find the taste of vegan food appealing to you.

I so hate hearing about the practice of killing/hunting of trophy animals; it breaks my heart.

Not much of a beef eater; in fact the only thing I can tolerate are hubby's grilled burgers and my tacos. I have to have my tacos once a week. I load them up with lots of lettuce and tomatoes.

I have a nice gift for you, @CAKCy ~

I don't have the willpower or discipline to be a vegetarian or a vegan. But I think vegetarians and vegans have the right idea, for a wide range of dietary, ethical and environmental reasons. So I'm glad McDonald's is giving them a menu choice.

Learned something new today. I always thought these 2 groups were one and the same.

A vegetarian is someone who avoids consuming meat, poultry and fish or any animal flesh. This also extends to insects. Vegetarians do, however, consume dairy, eggs, honey and are more open to supporting products that are made from animal fabrics.

Conversely, a vegan is someone that avoids consuming anything that comes from an animal. This would include meat, poultry, fish, insects, dairy, eggs and honey. Veganism extends beyond food, as they also avoid products made from animal fabrics including leather, silk and wool.

I have absolutely zero disciple and just ate a pint of soy "icecream." That's why I'm fat. But I've still found it easy to be vegetarian 30 years and plant based over half of that.

I think what I'll try to do is to add one vegetarian/vegan meal per week to the schedule. My wife is strictly a meat and potatoes sort of eater so this won't be easy, at least for dinner.

I suppose McD's has done their market research, nevertheless I can't really picture very many vegan or vegetarians having the fast food habit.
Sometimes I wish for the convenience. But myself, I'm not really interested in going to those places.

Years ago in Santa Cruz this place opened in a former foster freeze. I think they were vegetarian burgers, not vegan but the place was great. The veggie burgers were big and the place was friendly. Years later I went back to Santa Cruz and it was now a restaurant in a bigger location with a pretentious atmosphere and rude staff. Literally, no thank you, no nothing. I couldn't believe that little veggie burger place turned into that dump but I shouldn't have been surprised.

I love to make predictions, especially when I won't be around to see whether I'm right or not.

In a hundred years, we will all be vegans, and people will look back with distaste at a time when we ate animals.

I also think that, in a hundred years, we won't have racial problems, because pretty much everyone will be multi-racial.

Of course, in a hundred years, the Pacific Coast may start at Las Vegas, and the Atlantic at Pittsburgh...

i would love to meet the Waldron parents. They raised some terrific kids as evidenced by this classic Best Man Speech with a younger brother making jokes at his older brother's expense. It is particularly touching and awesome (to me at least) because the Best man is on the Autism Spectrum. Yet in the process of the typical chiding of groom in best man's speech it's clear he's made a positive mark on his peers and community. Of course, we are now learning that there are many Boomers and Gen Xers who are undiagnosed, but on the spectrum (but that topic deserves own thread sometime, somewhere on the SF), which means that certain parenting styles can allow those on 'high end' of spectrum to at least function in society--hold jobs, have friends even marry.

Love this video, but couldn't find the connection to McDonald's or vegan foods... Did I miss something?

I myself am so tired, that I hadn't even noticed that it had no relation to this thread topic. :ROFLMAO::D

Thanks, for informing me, @StarSong :)

And thanks for posting the interesting post, anyway, @feywon 🙂🥰

No problem, you are in good company here! I've done the same in other threads, later wondering what I myself had in mind, of any possible connection to the thread I'd posted in! 🙃🙄☺️😊

That's the thing about his kind of format, if a thread is dormant for even a couple of days finding it again be tricky if there are similarly titled discussions. You use the search feature upper right and search 'Good News' in titles only the thread i intended to put it in was about #10 on the list. But now the official title of that one, 'Good News-Thread', is hopefully imprinted on my brain.
