Just about all of have suffered in many different ways , lost loved ones etc... but if you can think of just 1 thing you wish you'd never heard ..or been told... what would it be ?
When I was eight I snuck into my parents bedroom and hid under the bed and my mother said to my father "I wish you wouldn't praise Pepper so much" I felt like I had died, my heart hurt me so.
I am glad for you, i wanted that too her listening and i would have settled for that.@Jeni
Can definitely relate. I was lucky though. My mother & I had a very meaningful conversation, coincidentally a month or so before she died where I spoke, she listened, and she apologized from her heart.
I always, even as a young child, knew most of her "failings" were due to her PTSD from the Depression. Changed her forever into a fearful person.
how utterly, utterly soul destroying for you, I'm so sorry.,.I am glad for you, i wanted that too her listening and i would have settled for that.
I had tried to have that meaningful conversation a few years before her death............. but all I got was denial, denial denial and more hurt telling me i twisted her intent.... some of the things were horrible things that clearly only had one intent
The word "cancer" from my wife's doctor, on 3 different occasions. What’s 1 thing you wish you never heard?
Oh no...bad enough once, not 3 times...The word "cancer" from my wife's doctor, on 3 different occasions.
how dare she .. shillelaghs are alive and well....Another thing I wish I never heard. I was just starting high school when my English teacher, Miss Weinberg, weeping, said "The President has been shot. He's as dead as an Irish shillelagh."
That is not good, I agree. The word "cancer" from my wife's doctor, on 3 different occasions.
Funny how memory works, today I would bet very few people would admit voting for Nixon, yet he was elected twice and came close once.In the sixth grade we took a poll & only 1 kid out of about 35 had parents voting for Nixon

I was being facetious because everyone knows a shillelagh is made by leprechauns... and are magic walking sticks..Silly @hollydolly!! You know it's a walking stick, which I did not know when she said it. All the teachers were crying and wailing, never saw anything like that before or since. Heartbreaking. My neighborhood was strong for Kennedy! In the sixth grade we took a poll & only 1 kid out of about 35 had parents voting for Nixon.
Oh? Different in what way?Pepper is from New York, which is, was, and always will be different. My family was Irish Catholic but conservative. I think they voted for Nixon in 1960 but I'm not sure.
Now I want one!a shillelagh is made by leprechauns... and are magic walking sticks..
