What are some "old people" things that you do?

I do few of the items listed but am aware some have always done so. One thing I do is #27 just like Kieth Richards is I often have a couple Werther's Originals caramels in a pocket away from home in case I become thirsty or need to swallow to clear my throat. Didn't know KR did so but have a good reason both of us do so, I'll refrain from sharing.

One thing missing for many of us is a need to have cheap reading glasses scattered everywhere instead of just maybe one in a pocket.

Also, I will never become the old person that blocks the entrance of a store while they take the time to wipe down the cart, put away sunglasses and keys, find the shopping list, etc...
Why is that an old thing? Do young people walk around the store holding their keys and sunglasses instead of putting them away? And everyone should be wiping down shopping carts before using them.

I remember when I was younger than I am today, that I observed older persons doing things that I never thought I'd fall victim to. But of course, if I hadn't succumbed to at least a few of them, I'd not be thinking to share this now. Here is a list of 40 Common Older People Habits That Young People Don't Understand Can you recognize any of them that you practice or, better still, can you share any others?
This was a good article. I scored about 20 out of 40 as an old person. One old person thing I find myself doing is going down the stairs one a time first thing in the morning, when I'm stiff and groggy from sleeping. At least until the part to where I get to the banister on both sides. After coffee, I still bound up and down the stairs like a bunny.

Some other things not mentioned: I'm fussy about grammar and spelling. I like good manners. I like people to dress as well as they can. That is definitely old person behavior.

Been fussy about grammar & spelling all my life. Who doesn't like good manners? Who wants to be a slob or be with a slob? Not necessarily old person behavior! :)

eta
always been contrary! like an old person!

I do a few things on the list but I noticed it takes me forever to get comfortable in my chair for the evening.
I have two pillows that need adjusting, one for my back and one under my knees. I need my afghan, most likely my heating pad, the heat in the room has to be readjusted to a lower temperature, I need my glasses, hearing aids, then comes a snack for the bird and one for the old bird I sit next to.
If I'm having a hot drink I need my little cup heater so it stays warm. I might get a headache so I put my Tylenol on the end table next to the chair.
I have to move the chair from the desk over a bit so I can see the tv screen.
Then I wonder why I fall asleep in my chair.

I hate voicemails. I also hate spam callers.
When spam callers leave voicemails it's usually because they're looking for somebody else.
I depend on voice mail to screen out spammers. If its a real person who wants to talk to me I assume they will leave a message. When spammers leave messages its a quick delete, easier than answering them. I only answer calls from known numbers. I leave voice mail for the same reason.

I have to say that I couldn't relate to about 90% of that list. Having said that, one thing that jumped out at me is that cursive writing is becoming a lost art. That made me sad. I guess it is this way because of the electronic signature that people can use nowadays. And living in PJs...well, most people young and old are doing that, since Covid.

I do like my landline phone because I love the heft of the receiver, and it is familiar. I use my Smartphone now and then but landline is my first choice. My entire family has always been tea drinkers, so that isn't new. This article is mostly misinformation and click bait, lol.

Now, for my own old people's list. Things I never thought I would do:

Consider covering the gray hairs with hair dye.
Eat supper off trays in front of the television with hubby.
Long to fill my house with more cats (I have 2.)
Tell some kids to please get off the lawn.
Be overly concerned over unfamiliar sounds late at night.
Miss real Christmas cards in the mailbox, and real letters.

Actually, wiping down shopping carts isn't useful. Think about shopping. You wipe down your cart, then you touch each item as you put it in your cart, (items handled by many people - manufacturers, packers, stockers, other shoppers etc.) then you touch money or that credit card thing when you pay.
Unless you touch your face without washing your hands, it doesn't matter what you touch while you're shopping.
I just wash my hands as soon as I get home.

That's a good idea... to keep extra reading glasses scattered about. I'm thinking about ordering some cheap ones online right after I get my eyes examined so I can keep a pair in the car and one pair in the living room along with the ones I keep in my office. I think they're available for like $50 online. I do have vision insurance that will pay for the exam and one pair every two years.

Old geezer thinks I do is belching and farting. Sometimes I start belching so loud that anyone in the house can hear it. My wife has asked me to see a doctor about it, but I haven't. My farts can be so bad that my dog will get up and move away from me. My wife has those aerosol cans of fragrant sprays that she uses. If we have company I will go outside to fart and wonder if they can hear them from inside the house.

I don't do most of the things listed as things old people do. I guess that means I'm not old!

I do take naps every day — sometimes twice a day, which is something I didn't do when I was younger. I don't get a restful sleep at night due to shallow breathing, and that's been a problem since my late 30s. The only difference is, now that I'm retired, I have the time to take naps.

My landline does what I want, trying to use my smartphone leads to a whole lot of cussing.

Dragging my old bones out of bed is the hardest thing I do all day.

My grandson that I used to pick under one arm is now 6'4"

The only place where I pay cash is at the barber shop. They don't take plastic.

When I was 50, I didn't think that was old. 37 years later I still don't.

I don't trust debit cards. I have 2 credit cards, but that is another story.

I got fed up with my landline endlessly ringing with calls from salespeople and scam artists and finally got rid of it. That was 2-3 years ago. I've never missed it. We really need only one phone.

My family and friends use texting more than speaking over the phone, anyway. Or we use email.

I just have one pair of high quality prescription reading glasses in my hide out, a 2 story 2 bdrm 900 sq/ft condo unit but scattered about at various places is another 8 cheap reading glasses from Dollar Store. A lot of times at home or within one's vehicle, one just needs to read something short like a label, name, directions on some product ala "add 2 ???spoons" or to help look at some small LCD or monitor text. Otherwise one doesn't bother to be dragging prime reading glasses about everywhere. In my case their main location is at my Dell laptop or couch.

definitely #38... ignoring trends. i sincerely do not dare! and if you mention it to me like i should be embarrassed... idc times 10!

I never have any scam artists or sales people calling my landline.. I'm amazed at how so many of you do... My number is ex directory..

Another thing someone mentioned was staying in pyjamas all day ..I have never done that, except when in hospital.... I tried it once, I 've never felt so on edge , expecting someone to call at any time and catch me not dressed. I just can't do it,.I don't even wear them in bed, so I don't even own a pair of Pyjamas now...
