What are you doing today 2023

Today, I've been watching the pretty extreme snow falling outdoors.
Both pretty, and extreme; now that I read my own sentence. :rolleyes::giggle::geek:

Feeling very grateful today, to have the power and electricity, stove, frig, and internet working!
The forecast included very likely power outages, and the winter storm is not yet over, but things are looking good for now! Whew!

Took care of my library chore yesterday but didn't wind up going the the grocery store. Baby grandson was unhappy in the car and I didn't want to inflict his mood on fellow shoppers. Funny thing though, when we got home he perked up pretty quickly. Guess even toddlers have days when they want to do nothing. :cool:

I avoid stores on weekends whenever possible (let the working stiffs have their chance) and will hit the grocer Monday or Tuesday.

Today I'll manage laundry and a couple of business chores. A quiet day that will include a nap. Both yesterday and this morning I was rudely awakened in the 5:00 hour by the unpleasant odor of skunk spray. Thus the nap.

It might rain a little overnight tonight but nothing on the order of what was flung at us over the past few weeks.

Today I’m being a lazy sloth
Is there any other kind of sloth🦥 Just so you know, sloth is my spirit animal ;)

@hollydolly Wet some paper towels or some newspaper and lay it out on your tile floor. It'll pick up shards, and there are bound to be some.

If you haven't guessed, I'm home after a pleasant morning baking 🥐🥐🥐🥐🥐🥐 and stuff. I've been assured that New Lady won't be back in the bakery at any time ever. Dunno where they'll put her, but they aren't putting her in the bakery. Yay! And Retired Lady's last day is Friday, March 31:(:cry:😭 I'm ecstatic about New Lady and beyond sad about Retired Lady. I dunno how on earth we're gonna get along without her.

Imagine. Yesterday I was feeling lower than a snake's belly. After a morning at work, I'm feeling like myself again.

Guess where DD and DGD are? Guess! They are out with DGD driving🚙 Driving, I tell you! Can it be that she's decided that if she's gonna adult, she needs to get her license? I mean, c'mon, she's had a learner's permit for the past seven (yup, seven!) years. She won't be in a position to buy a car, but just getting her license will be a heckuva milestone. To encourage her to do for herself, I'm gonna tuck an Uber card in with her birthday card. Well...actually, to discourage her from calling Mom's Taxi every time she turns around, I'll do the Uber card😊

It's a gorgeous day after yesterday's storms so I picked up debris from the lawn and the garden. DD suggested that we go to the garden center when she gets home. Might as well go; there might be something there besides pansies and other winter flowers. Maybe some snapdragons? They can handle light frost in case we get some again.

No other type of sloth that I know of but it wasn’t a criticism either way. Hopefully your DD gets her drivers license so your wife isn’t being taxi driver without pay.

@PeppermintPatty No, no, Fluffy! I didn't take the sloth 🦥 comment as criticism. I think it's funny:LOL:

DGD = DearGrandDaughter!
DD = DearDaughter!

My daughter is out with my granddaughter "teaching" her to drive. Actually, DGD knows how to drive, but she's resisted getting her license for years because...yanno, it's easier just to get DD to fetch and carry whenever she wants to go somewhere/needs to be picked up.

DGD lives at home but is moving to an apartment with a roommate April 1. Didn't think she'd ever decide to grow up and move, but stranger things have happened. I think.

My apologies. I thought it was your dear daughter going for her drivers license.
Either way, good luck to her !

GiGi... wow, 2 Really great things happening in one day... wooohooo... bet that No, New Lady spring is in your step ! Will you be getting another new lady ?

As for DGD.. given that she can't afford a car of her own yet.. maybe for her birthday the family could pool together and buy her a hire car rental for a week...it might encourage her to start saving for a car of her own.

You know it's amazing how different people are. I'm thinking my daughter passed her test at 17 ( 17 is the youngest you can be here ).. and by 23 she owned her first house!

Today, guess what.... I found the tweezers I could not find after a multi tiresome search yesterday.
Wanna know where ? Under the cushion in my big comfy chair.
Nope , I have no idea how they got there.
I just cannot imagine what I could have been using them for other than to pluck the chinny hair.
I have to do that in bathroom ( which I did today) where the big mirror is and my mind is a blank as to what????
Mizmo is losing it..Scared.gif
Any ideas...
A prize of a blueberry scone and coffee in the Coffee Corner will be awarded for best answer.

Today I am going to be spending the day with my daughter. We will be having lunch at a Tea place and then in the evening going out to a cafe where they play music and will have drinks and dinner. We also may walk around this one nearby town that has water if the wind calms down. If not we will stay at her home and chat.
I hope you had a great day. My daughter called today we had to arrange a date around Mothers day which is the 19th of March in the UK.. when she will not be working so we can go and have a day together. She lives a couple of hours away, so I have to go to her because she has elderly pets who can't be left alone all day, which means she prefers it if I drive up to her . We were choosing where to go..of course my mothers' day I get to choose, and I found a lovely pub setting in Stamford Lincolnshire which is a favourite town of mine about 2 hours from me and 1/2 hour from my daughter.. and which my fussy daughter actually likes the menu...

We can't actually go on Mother's day weekend because it'll be packed out so we've chosen a different weekend..

Have a look

Had a great day with my older granddaughter: picked her up about 1100, she wanted to bring the kimono someone had given her for her birthday recently. So it turned into kind of a "Japanese" Day. We took photos of her in the kimono by flowers in the yard, we looked up how to write her name in Japanese, we had sushi for lunch (her choice) and played Sudoku. All in all a very fun morning =)

What do you all do on Saturday nights ?.. does anyone go out ? .. I was just sitting here realising that for 18 months now, I haven't been out at night.. not since O/H has been gone.. !! I feel almost like Saturday nights are a foreign country now... anyone else ?

Do? Are we supposed to be doing something? I haven't done anything on a Saturday night for so many years that I can't even think of what I'd do. I don't go out after dark anyway.

Let me assure you, though, that I do live an exciting life. In the fast lane🏎️🏎️🏎️🏎️. During daylight hours, of course.

@hollydolly, Have not been out for fun at night in 15 years. I have gone out with the kids for dinner a few times. I do go out an night to the grocery store or fast food once in a while. Of course, it I could sleep at night I could get things done in the normal course of the day. I like the grocery at night. Most of the time it is not crowded and they are restocking fresh things. Also get some good deals on mark down items.

yes that's about all I do now , go out to the supermarket at night..well I did that once the other night.. first time since o/h has been gone.. and another time I took a drive at midnight .. maybe a week after he'd been gone, I just got in the car and drove up the motorway with no plan on where I was going.. and drove home again after a couple of hours..

I think I need to try and find myself something to do at least one night in a while, I'm afraid I'm turning into a hermit here...

No question about it, I am a hermit. Truth be told I like not having to go anywhere, see anyone if I don't feel like it.

yes that's what I don't want to happen. Some people like it like you, but I don't want to wake up when I'm 75 and realise I've not been out in the evening.. at all since I was in my 60's... . I'm not looking to go out every night of the week ..not in any way, anyway those days are gone.. but even to get dressed up with somewhere to go once a month or once every couple of months to have something to look forward to would be nice. I have such lovely clothes , it seems a waste not to wear them..

You are in a totally different situation, and you should be out there, meeting others, going to dinner, to the pub etc. You are very social, engaging, interested in so many things. I have been spent the last 15 years taking care of sick family, working, getting the kid raised. I am just exhausted now and have no desire to go out.

Maybe when everything gets settled, if you move to a new home, it might be in area with more entertainment, gathering places.

I did have a lovely day with my daughter. We had some lovely tea and some finger sandwiches for lunch as well as cheese and crackers. Then we did take a walk around the promenade near the water and just chatted. It was a little windy outside so we did cut that short and went back to her place and just chatted more. A bit later we went to a cafe that had a jazz trio playing and we had some Wine and our meals. I just recently got back home and am now just relaxing. I have church in the morning. Here in the United States Mother's Day is celebrated on May 14th.

@hollydolly There's always Bingo night at church...or wherever:ROFLMAO:

Seriously, check out London International Meetup Groups...you can pick and choose. Start out with something that might interest you during daylight hours, though.
we don't have churches like that.. and in my rural area there's no night life at except for pubs, and nowadays only the young go to pubs at night.. not like when I was young.. well granted we were young also..lol.. but all ages went to the pub at night then.

As for London.. nope I'd have to travel in by train, driving in London at night is a no-no.. think NY City.. and you'll know what I mean... . not gonna travel in by train and tube at night on my own... It's frustrating that I'm just 20 miles away, but it may as well be 200 when it comes to getting there at night alone..
