Just got back from walking the dogs in the neighborhood during a lull in our very wet winter. I forget what this shrub is called but it is in a family of ones popular for hedging. These flowers are tiny but so nearly black.





And from our walk yesterday at a San Francisco beach, aren’t the emerging cones ( I’m guessing) on this conifer ornamental?
