Can you remember ?

When T.V.'s were a new thing, we had one channel.
I was the one that would hold the wire hanger with the tin foil
behind the set while my brother would yell, "No, to the left!
No up a little. OK stand still don't move. We have a picture!"
"The Lone Ranger!" Bet none of you remember that!

nylons with seams?

Pedal pushers?

Listening to the hog prices from "Halston Purina" early in the
morning on the old wooden radio? "My friend Irma"?

Yes! Every time I went to visit Papa as the Esso station he worked at. Double ding with my bike's wheels. The days when you went to fill up your car with petrol and you got the full services by a handsome (sorry my father looked good...) person, who pumped the petrol for you, washed your windshield and checked the oil level.

Thankfully, as a tomboy girl, he showed je how to do these things but it was nice to have that great service...

When I was growing up I loved watching the Howdy Doody show. I wanted to be Princess Summer Fall Winter Spring. I had a brother that was 15yrs older than me and he was the manager of a shoe store. One day the cast of the Howdy Doody show was going to be there. My brother took me to his shoe store that day and I got to meet the cast. I will never forget that day.

My wife still wears them.........and I get to straighten the seams!
There's a heavier part of the denier at the top of the stocking that the suspender belt is clipped into. Teenage boys of my generation called that the giggle band. Apparently, if you got past that, you were laughing.
Oh happy memories. Yes, I remember that, but tights came along and spoiled the fun.

Gaer, it was the same in the UK. The black & white TV with one channel, but father used a wire shelf from the oven as an aerial until we got a proper one. The Lone Ranger and Tonto - I think of that every time I hear the "William Tell overture". Did you also see "The Range Rider" and his sidekick Dick West, all American boy?

There were lots of US shows on British TV - "Whirlybirds" , "Crunch & Des", "Ripcord" and one about space men (before they were called Astronauts) - can't remember name but it was late 50's.

I can tell how old you are simply because you used the word "aerial". When I was a kid we had an aerial, then it was aerial antenna, but in the past forty plus years everyone just uses the term antenna.

I used to watch "The Hit Parade" every Friday night on TV. They had the most popular songs of the prior week. We only had radios then. Now I use one dozen Amazon Echo Shows to get all my songs. I rarely use my very old clock-radio. I even forgot how to set the clock on it. I also used to watch "The Twilight Zone" on TV. They used to futurist programs but never even mentioned the real miracles of today like those Amazon Echo Shows, the internet with interesting sites like Senior Forums. I can even play a very serious war game like Civilization VI from Steam.com and a fantastic chess server liked Chess.com. Since I'm 88 and do not work on a job anymore, I spend most days playing those internet games which were not even imagined years ago.

Ah, I thought, a "Kilt pin" - but maybe not. Not sure if the safety pin shown is to attach the inner and outer layers of fabric, or is purely decorative. Kilt pins are worn in a similar way, but are only attached to the outer fabric. They are often made of precious metal and may help to identify the wearer's clan or status.

How about 'fairy loops' on the back of boys shirts? Girls used to yank them off, sometimes ripping the shirts...

How many tricks could you do on a YoYo? Round the World, Walking the Dog, Rock the Cradle, etc.

Learning to do the Bop and later the Twist! Good thing I had an older sister to teach me...

I remember most Mom's being at home and not working. Playing outside till late at night with all the Mom's watching the kids. They truly were the good old days.
I also remember your boyfriend taking you on his bike to a place called suicide hill and the boy who got down first got to kiss the girl he took. I loved it when my boyfriend won. we were only 12yrs old then.
