Bringing back mask wearing?

I haven't stopped wearing my masks and I won't. The only time I don't have one on is when I'm walking outside (if it's mild) and not too close to others and when I'm eating at a restaurant. I'll admit though that I did relax that a bit when we went to see my friend perform. Most of the time I wear KN95s which are very comfortable for me. I like the fact that wearing masks in the winter actually keep my face warm.

Yes, it has been scientifically proven that masking helps. If you so adamantly believe that it doesn’t, the next time you have surgery, ask your surgeon not to wear one.
It's been scientifically proven that masks are ineffective against viruses. Including the N-95 masks.

Here's a guy who has a PhD in nursing discussing the largest study that proved this:

And here's a doctor who's had a long career in medicine talking about it:

Masks are excellent at preventing the spread of bacterial and parasitic infections, but to prevent the spread of airborne viruses and diseases you need one of those elaborate respiratory mask, the ones with the breathing tubes. I forget what they're called. People who spray-paint cars use them.

The only place that I aware that mask wearing is mandatory is in a medical facility or doctor's office.
Meanwhile in Germany too, but only patients must wear masks, not the physician and his staff. Makes sense 🤣 .
Btw: Our politicians often didn't wear masks, although it was mandatory for all people. Mask mandates in Germany were never because of health but because of control. And a lot of young people didn't wear them, even in the subway and the railway. And forcing children to wear masks the whole day at school was a crime!

Not the same thing.
Right. Surgeons wear masks to avoid that their saliva with bacteria infects the wound, but not because of a virus. Every virus is so tiny, that it penetrates a mask without any problem. On the package of the N95 masks in Germany (we call them FFP2 masks, but they are exactly the same) is always the note "doesn't protect from viruses".

N95 FFRs are capable of filtering out all types of particles, including bacteria and viruses. What makes N95 respirators different from facemasks (sometimes called a surgical mask)? N95 respirators reduce the wearer's exposure to airborne particles, from small particle aerosols to large droplets.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/respirator-use-faq.html

Among 534 participants who specified the type of face covering they typically used, wearing N95/KN95 respirators (aOR = 0.17; 95% CI = 0.05–0.64) or surgical masks (aOR = 0.34; 95% CI = 0.13–0.90) was associated with significantly lower adjusted odds of a positive test result compared with not wearing any face mask or respirator. These findings reinforce that in addition to being up to date with recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, consistently wearing a face mask or respirator in indoor public settings reduces the risk of acquiring SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Dr. (not a medical doctor) John Campbell has a financial incentive to promote crazy conspiracy theories...
In early 2020 Campbell's YouTube channel started to focus on the developing COVID-19 pandemic. Until then, his videos had been receiving an average of several thousand views each, but his channel began to receive significant traffic after it started running COVID-related videos. Between February and March 2020, his channel increased from an average of 500,000 views per month to 9.6 million, mostly from American viewers. By September 2020, his videos had been viewed more than 50 million times.

What I never understood?

People who don't trust their doctor's opinion that they should get the vaccine. Then, when they get Covid they run to their doctor for treatment and advice.
Of course they would go a doctor if they had Covid, why shouldn't they? Do vaccinated people not go to doctors when they get Covid?

I believe in choice, I'm not anti vax. I didn't get the Covid vaccination upon my doctors advice due to my health issues.

That's your reality - in a world of your own making.
I have several vaccinated friends who got Covid. None saw a doctor for treatment or advice. Neither did I.
Why would anyone see a doctor for an incurable virus that's not as serious as the flu & is basically a 3-5 day chest cold?

Not everyone needs a doctor. I got Covid two times, the first time obviously in February 2020. At that time there were no tests available, but from the symotoms it seems very likely. I had a colleage at work who was at the large 'Biofach' fair at Nuremberg which had a lot of Chinese exhibitors. She got sick, then me, then my wife. The colleague was 67 at that time, my wife and me were in the beginning 60s. All of us had a week with headache, a little fever, general weakness but nothing dangerous. The second time was in October 2022. The same again for my wife and me but only for five days and without fever. No vaccinations, no doctors, but we take the whole year vitamin supplements (especially D3 and C) and zinc. Our D3 levels are about 70 ng/ml which is fairly good. Since we avoided wearing masks as far as possible our immune system always gets trained with the contact to viruses and doesn't become weak.

I've seen people still wearing masks and I don't really have a problem with that. Some people still prefer to not take chances when near people they do not know. However hospitals in my area (Vancouver WA) still require you to enter with a mask.
yup same here.. can't go into a hospital around here without a mask.. I always have a mask in every pocket of my coats and jackets, and a couple in the car. I went for an MRI 2 weeks ago.. didn't have my coat on and completely forgot about the mask, and when I reached reception they offered me a mask before they even checked me in .. . I have no problems wearing one..

It doesn't. It does send a psychological message that something is not right if you live in culture/country where mask wearing is not the norm. It hurts little children also who are just beginning to understand how to socialize by recognizing and interpreting facial expressions.
you say that tho' Chic. When I was at the hospital waiting room there was a couple with their toddler child. Neither of the parents were wearing a mask...and I thought I might be frightening the child because I was.. .. so I waved to him, and he waved back ( probably 2 years old or less)..then I played peekaboo.. with him.. ( we were about 8 feet apart... ).. and he laughed and had a great time.

I don't know if masks are effective or not, but I do know that wiping down my shopping carts with the anti-bacterial wipes offered at the stores has kept me from getting a lot of colds. I used to get one about twice a year and ever since I started using the wipes, I've been cold free. I keep a bottle of sanitizer in my car, too, for after shopping.

I have all my Covid shots and two boosters..didn’t get Covid but I do know some that did that also had the vaccine. Their cases were very mild though.
I would have gotten the last booster also but it was around the time I got flu and pneumonia shot.
The flu shot was the only one with a mild side effect for me.
I really can’t remember the last time I was sick..thank goodness.
Also, have no problem with masks. Still are required in medical bldgs here…always have one in my purse and car.
I also see many people still wearing them ..especially in Costco and stores like that.
I don’t but would if it was required.
