The second picture looks like he's high. Not surprising if he acquired a drug or alcohol problem that contributed.

On the subject of background checks...

In Australia anyone who works with children, even as a volunteer, must have regular background checks for redflag behaviours such as previous convictions relevant to their fitness to be close to children. At first they only checked state data bases and pedophiles with convictions in one state simply moved on to another and continued to get jobs as teachers and youth leaders.

Now when applying for a Working With Children approval you are searched for across all states and territories. I have had to apply for one to be a Sunday School teacher and also to be on the committee of a child care centre.

If red flag laws are to be effective, then guns need to be licenced in every state and the applicants needs to be checked across the entire country. Anything less is just window dressing.

Thank you Don. I was able to access news footage via the ABC News app on Roku. I can't believe this! A city councilman said when asked about plans to legislate better gun laws...that the city of Louisville's hands are tied because state legislation prohibits them from doing anything on their own (not verbatim)! He knew one of the victims and another city official was good friends with three of them...two who were among the dead. It's such a sad situation all the way around.

My BFF and I were talking about this shooting and she mentioned that their governor fixed it so that Floridians do not need a permit to carry!

I beg to differ from those good folks that say the killer is crazy or some "wackoo." I think that often it's just plain folk that have "blown a fuse." The pressure of our society builds up and up and then there is an explosion! BANG! Now, about those lines we hear all the time over the years that "Our prayers go out to the families" is pure unwashed hog-wash of the smelly kind! It's just some silly line that means absolutely nothing and often spoken by leaders and those folks in power who love guns and what guns can do! Changes need to be done and yet nothing is done. The American Rifle Association is laughing all the way to the local liquor store. The situation is only going to get worse. You can pray and pray "until the cows come home" but nothing will be done until the whole country smartens up and I afraid that in a "dumb and dumber" society, that "ain't" gonna happen for awhile. Rambo rules and the Waltons are a forgotten family.
 
I have learned over the years that most americans dont like to do stoop labor it makes them look bad in other peoples eyes and the ego thing gets to them...nah what me pick apples, or lettuce, heck no let the other people do that I want a high paying low work job where I can point and you do....
