Could you live without a computer?

I realized a long time ago that since I lost my brain I can't live without a computer! :LOL::LOL: Just this morning I couldn't remember the name of an Actor in a commercial. I looked up the commercial and the Actor is Dean Winters. So that made me feel better. I pay my bills on the computer, I grocery shop on the computer and of course, I love visiting this forum. Could you live without a computer?
 

Well of course I could live without a computer. I lived my first 40 years without it and I did just fine... I feel sorry for the generation who have never known a life without a computer, they just wouldn't be able to exist if for any reason we no longer had access to computer..

Would I want to be without my computer ?.. No... the world has changed a lot so interactions with other people have changed. I can still to this day pay my bills by hand or by post if I wish to.. but I pay them now online.. I do my banking online.. and our banks are closing at a rate of Knots every single week, so eventually we'll all have to bank online, which is a concern, but currently if I want to I can still go to a bricks and mortar bank

Appointments are made online.. and of course the Information super highway is at the touch of a button. I think that people on the one hand have never had so much knowledge as they do today due to computers,, but by the same token people have rarely been so misinformed yet believe they know the truth..

I feel for those who are elderly and live alone and have no access to computers, and surprisingly there's hundreds of thousands possibly millions.. The loneliness must be desperately difficult to deal with..

If I was to say what I'd miss most if I had no computer, it would be Numero Uno the access to instant information.. and 2, my interaction on forums with people from all over the world.. ..
 
Yes, we could all live without it but it would be a dull drab life at this age for me and I think the older generation in general if one is used to having a computer
Apart from the people contact all sorts of wonderful things are exposed to us and I personally find my knowledge of things gained from the computer equally satisfying. Of course there is the downside too, but nothing is perfect. We cope.

The 1st time I ever bought a computer was in 2011{month before I retired},before that I never thought I needed to buy one until my siblings suggested I should
After dealing with frustrating problems with Windows for 7 yrs,I switched to a Chrome laptop
Last yr, my 3 yr old lap top died on me,I didn't buy a new one for 2 weeks. Yes, I survived without it but was an adjustment ,my daily routine was out of whack

This would hit me most ....the loss of Youtube University. I would have to sell my Class B RV if I had to pay to fix and maintain all the things I've learned to do online.

I would also miss the news since I'm a centrist and have very little trust in most news outlets. Getting even close to discerning the truth about an issue involves reading the liberal mainstream media, conservative opposition media and international outlets. And reading the articles isn't enough; it's necessary to trace original sources since what passes as journalism these days is heavily loaded with opinion.

I thought in Canada it was all hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. Fly-fishing for huge trout and fresh run Salmon. Now that is what I call living along with forum friends who live in the USA fly-fishing crystal clear waters for Bonefish. Now folk post that they could not live without spending hours on rubbish on a screen like they are missing something. The truth is that screen watchers are missing something if they are reasonably fit.

The garden would be in
The deck would've been done a couple years ago
I'd prolly spend more money on stamps and envelopes
The phone book would be more worn
My typing skills would pretty much be nonexistent (both fingers)
I wouldn't be able to spell diddly squirt
My lay z boy wouldn't be so worn
I'd converse more with that lovely strange lady next to me
I'd actually read The Bible more
I'd go see what's in that building called the library
Spam would be something to fry
I wouldn't be too concerned about a mouse dying

Yeah, I could live without it

But, then, what would I be doing right now.......

When something breaks I google how to fix it. I pay my bills. I print my daily crossword. I "socialize" with you guys. I order most everything I need because it is so much easier than going shopping when you live in the boonies. I order my groceries for pickup.

I would have a very difficult time living without a computer. It is like having a "Magic 8 Ball" that really works.
