Mom and I had a wonderful time yesterday. We didn't even go anywhere.....just stayed in and visited. We did little things around the house, I changed her cell phone wallpaper to a picture of her cat, we looked at all 3 of her new coffee makers (!!!!!), looked at pictures, etc.

Mom was a champion bowler, back in the day. Years ago, I knew that she was missing it, so I bought her a table top bowling game. I pulled that out yesterday. She had forgotten that she even had it! We had so much fun! The whole day was spent laughing!

I'm rushing through here, today. After coffee and breakfast we are going into town. The idea is to get home early, and beat the heat.
That looks like a lot of fun, and she obviously enjoyed it! It puts a smile on my face, too, just thinking about it. ☺️😊👍 Thanks for telling us about it, and for that great photo!

@Trila
Your Mom is adorable! Love these photos :)

Was in the children’s section of the library, straightening the shelves this morning. A mother and her little boy (probably 3-4 yrs old) were on the far end of the shelves.

I could hear the little boy “reading” a book to his mom; I couldn’t fully understand him, I think he was making up the story as he went along, based on the pictures. He spoke with a lot of flair and intonation.

Eventually he finished his story and I heard him say a resounding “AMEN!” Mother gently corrected, “The End”. And he repeated, “THE END!”
Such a great story! Thank for that!!😄🥰☺️

Kicking back and relaxing. Got home Sunday from almost 6 weeks in Florida, so yesterday, I spent the day opening mail and paying bills. I also washed the SUV and cleaned the inside, so today the dog and I decided we needed a break. I didn’t even answer the phone when it rang.

My post is about my answering this thread's subject line- and in the same process I am also venting.
I understand that this post is vague.
I prefer not to reveal anything to specific or personal on the internet.
I do hope that nobody will be offended or will be angry.

I am sixty years old.
I have baggage from the past, the recent past and current.
Various issues or problems.
I have been trying to find solutions to those different kinds of problems or issues.
I continue not finding or not getting answers that will work for me or fit into my current situation.

@MissRJ We all have baggage. Some more than others, but we all have it. We all have various issues or problems. Some larger or smaller than others, but we all have them. We all try to find solutions. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't.

What it all boils down to is to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Eventually, we either solve the problems or they solve themselves.

A hundred years from now it won't matter, so live your life and just do what you can.

Online shopping and online researching for information.

I thank you for your reply.

Some of my issues/problems are the things that come with aging in place.
What I can afford versus what I would like or what I what I need.

The bagages from my past/ the past is something that I have not let go of.

UPDATE: never found phone number for my old reverend BUT found St Mary's Catholic Church and spoke to Father Thomas. Who kindly invited me to his church to do just this tomorrow, opened until 2 pm.

Yippee! Finally, I can help our dearly departed receive our thanks throughout this difficult time. Thanks for reading!

Daughter and I are wondering where we could find a local church that would have votive candles and would be opened during weekdays.

We've a few relatives beyond the veil, we'd love to honour with lit candles.

Hubby, Son, Father (Daughter's Dad, Brother and Grandpa). Then both my great-grandparents (Maggy and Tom) plus their son, my own maternal Grandfather and my paternal Grandmother (Snow). Plus one more for uncles and aunts.

Anyone who'd know in Scotland or UK where I should call (I've lost my Reverend's mobile number) please let me know? Thanks!

GS and his GF both had today off work. They came over and we all went to return some items to Amazon at the UPS Store.

Afterward, GS bought lunch, (Poke Bowls) ....a weird new concept for me. It's a fusion of Mexican and Chinese food. (y)

Mine was very good,
Lettuce
Tomato
Grilled chicken
Black beans
Scallions
Cilantro
Black olives
Marinated mushrooms
Red onion

Everything was cut very small and tasted very fresh.

Then we went grocery shopping. I didn't need too much, but it's nice to have GS bring in the bags for me.

Hot today, mid 80's.

Every couple months I go in for blood tests for monitoring my polycythemia vera condition that I was diagnosed with 13 months ago. So this morning went in and was poked. First time since the pandemic that people are no longer required to wear masks in the large Kaiser-Permanente hospital I visit. Tests showed my blood levels continue to nicely stay right where my hematologists wants. Am taking 500mg of hydroxy urea every day, a cheap safe medicine that doesn't seem to have any adverse effects. My beloved mother died a few years ago at age 86 from acute myelogenous leukemia that probably started the same way before modern medicine had figured out how to treat it.

Then drove to a brake shop I'd earlier talked with early this morning on the phone. Pretty sure I just need 4 pads replaced that would be about $250 for a full set including labor. I am very wary of costs for brake work because many services tend to play customers like they are some easy prey to be skewered by adding expensive work that might not be necessary after giving them a vehicle . During this period with inflation increasing all businesses costs, in order to remain competitive in urban regions with lots of shop choices, one is not likely to get straight answers before they do an inspection. They do that because they expect by time an inspection is done in a shop, customers have committed so will swallow any costs.

And indeed after pressuring the shop person of that national chain who was first quite intent to not provide an up front ball bark quote, found out they were intent on turning all my rotors as a shop practice even though there are plenty of comments on the major Subaru enthusiast forum site saying usually NOT. So smiled and left them holding an empty invoice.

I had to rearrange some stock and move things around in the bedroom and storage closet to find a cool place to put a 13 pound bag of dry cat food. When I ordered it, I didn't realize it was such a large bag, thinking it was the same size as the last bag I had, which I no longer have. I also finished putting away the rest of her order of canned food.

I chatted with a Chewy representative because once again, some of the cans of Friskies were damaged. This has happened 3 times before, once was when I ordered from Amazon. She refunded me for the damaged cans, which was my choice rather than ship out a whole new box. I'm going to try to find a brick and mortar (hopefully) discount pet food store. Costco does not carry Friskies.

I went on Facebook specifically to post a HBD message to my son. He is 55 now. I had found the perfect card for him, which he got a kick out of and put $55 in it. I'm also going to treat him to his favorite meal at the Grand Lux Cafe (avocado wontons) when he's ready. I can't believe how fast the time went by! My BFF was marveling at it too. He was 8 years old when we started our friendship.

Tried that already, thanks....went on phone to spectrum and they analyzed the mess and a tech will be here wed afternoon....groan....😫
I was wondering if you just needed to press the input button and change that. But since they analyzed and feel there's still the need to come out, I guess that isn't it. Please keep us posted, because now I'm curious as to what could have possibly happened.

Welp, I am here, but barelly, had bad sleep nite, nitghmares, leg cramps, foot
cramps...wow, plus I could not stay either warm enough or cool enough...wow....
today have very sore left leg, who know why....not doing anything, but waiting
on new tv delivery....will slide the box inside and just leave it, as I'm not up
for installing anything today...gripe gripe......:cautious:

My plan today is to stay home. If I go any place the day before the next day I stay home. All our streets are being worked on and it is loud and dusty outside (along with the wood fire smell and smoke in the sky). Seems like there is more traffic than usual and detours the traffic around the quiet streets.
Kat I do that too.. just recently found that I'm exhausted if I go out several days in a row which is something I've always done.. but it seems my body isn't liking that anymore , so where possible, I try always to go out one day and stay home the next ...I'm so active, and do everything in a rush, so it's best for me to take a day in between... but not necessarily rest..just as long as I'm not out driving and dashing around here and there... like today..

I've been to M&S in a town North of here to stock up on Cheese scones and Sultana scones, and several other things.. then drove to Costco for meatballs.. and some paper goods...then drove for a few miles to Aldi for some basics.. I'm getting to really dislike Aldi... but today I just had to get Milk, water.. and some unbaked baguettes.. so it's fine for things like that..

Had a walk around Homesense and TKmaxx... none of them had anything worth buying... pretty poor stock tbh, and overpriced now.. In the meantime in between all these jaunts from one place to another we had heavy downpours.. then sun, then rain... of course I had no jacket with me.. but I was fortunate that it seemed to rain only when I got back into the car.. and had stopped by the time I got to my next destination..

Thanks to everyone for all of your kind responses about my Mom. It's hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that she is 91 years old!!!

I've been texting with an old, old friend, this morning. She and I lived next door to each other when we were just kids. Then after high school, life took us in different directions. We have been FB friends for a little while, but both of us have kept our distance.

Today, we opened up a little....it's been nice. She and I have missed out on the friendship that we used to have. I'm glad we were able to reconnect.

I've had coffee & breakfast. One part of my workout is done (there are 3 parts, plus PT). It's going to be close to 100°F today, so I'm going to do fences next, and give my seedlings their first sprinkle of the day.

Dear @hawkdon try to raise your legs up a bit so that they're higher than your head while lying down. It helps redirecting the blood to the heart and improve circulation.

Also, using any cream or lotion you like, start with your feet and massage your legs upwards towards your heart once again. Take your time or if possible get someone to do it for you.

Also, you can read this article from Holland and Barrett

Search for natural, herbal medicines for leg cramps. Hoping this helps!
