Welp. The weathernerds finally came through. Sort of. They predicted rain and storms north and west of us, but we actually got rain and storms, too. We weren't included in the rain forecast. Figures. But I'm grateful for the rain anyway. Won't have to water tomorrow, maybe not even Saturday if it rains for another hour or so.

And our temp has fallen to a glorious 73. Woohoo.
Yay! Send some of that our way, @Georgiagranny !! I'll go outside and do a rain dance to help it along, haha

Hey HEY Hey !!! ... Yes you little ma'am !!!
Might be why I'm not getting many Cherry Tomatoes from just outside my backdoor
Male Cardinal was on it earlier, got his fill, left some for his girlfriend

Good for you!!!! It's still a humid 92°F here. Dew point is 78!

@hollydolly It's a thought and a consideration. But since this is the worst 55+ park in town, the home is nice but not real sunny, I think this is just the last thing.

@Jules what gets to me is there are people in spaces living in travel trailers but they don't want a single female with two strictly indoor cats who's paws would never touch their streets. I guess I'm done with any consideration of that place. This was it.

What are you doing today 2023

Hauling concrete pillars around the back yard for a deck
Then changing my mind and hauling them elsewhere
Leveling and squaring
Then..... changing my design midstream
Taking most of them back to Home Depot (they're gonna love me)

Concrete pillars are heavier than they used to be

I walked to the Amazon hub about 8:30 to pick up my hand towels, then on to the supermarket to buy a few items. I noticed they made another street one way, which is better for me while walking in that area.

I had short conversations with my BFF then with my podiatrist's office assistant. She called to confirm tomorrow but I rescheduled because we’re supposed to get heavy thunderstorms and there’s a flash flood warning (which won't affect my neighborhood). I can walk to the office or take Uber in bad weather, but I just don’t want to be out in that tomorrow.

I had put away the refrigerated items from my shopping and after my son came in later with my Costco order, I worked my magic to fit everything in the fridge and freezer. I also reorganized my storage spots which gave me room to put everything away.

I'm sitting at the table in just my underpants (which are nicely ironed). I'm about to iron my blue shirt, my trousers I've also done and have a nice sharp crease.
I want to look tidy with my new look (baldy and freshly ironed clothes) because I get a buzz when no-one recognises me. ☺️

I thought I might go out today..but it's overcast.. and I really don't need anything from the shops.. so I'll stay home..

The Bannister and the Newel on the stairs which I painted yesterday are looking very nice.. not even one brush stroke to be seen

We're supposed to get rain all weekend, so I'll put the cover back on the garden parasol, and make sure the garden chair cushions are put away ahead of time..

Other than that the day will just have to make it's own way...:D

TMI!!!! TMI, my friend!!! LOL

Today is Dio's bday. So far we have no plans whatsoever. He is bringing mini (lemon filled) cupcakes to the rink tomorrow to share with our skating friends.

Did I mention that I got a Library book last week? It's really good, I'm totally enjoying it. I'm hoping for a quiet day today, maybe I'll get some reading in. The only thing that I don't like about Library books is that there is always a deadline hanging over me!

When we left the restaurant yesterday, we went to the fitness center for the first time since getting our memberships last April. We didn't stay long, but we were so stuffed from breakfast that it felt good to walk on the treadmill for a while. Now that we've used it, we plan on going back more often.

We will be at the rink on Sat and Sun this weekend. We are both starting to burning out from the rink. I guess we're just getting too old to keep up the pace. Last week, Dio "gave notice" that, starting in the fall, we are only going to be doing Saturday's. This will give Janeen time to find someone else to be the deejay and to work in the snack bar for all of those other days.

Sitting at Ed’s hospital bedside, holding his hand while he naps. Yes, he’s back in the hospital: minor complication after his gallbladder surgery.

The thing is, he won’t be able to return home to live independently. His daughter is working out to have him moved to a care facility near her for rehab (physical therapy, etc). He asked my thoughts on this plans; I told him it’s in his best interest medically but I would miss him terribly. Assured him I would visit as often as possible.

He has mixed feelings, of course, but realizes—at least for now— it’s the best plan.
@CinnamonSugar , sorry to hear he needs to go into care for rehab. You will miss each other, i know. Sending prayers for a fast recovery.

Piddlin' around the house this AM (isn't that one of the nicest parts of being retired, the ability to 'piddle' with no guilt? LOL) Put crystals down the shower drain, cleaned the stove top thoroughly, and did some cooking ahead.

I'm learning to appreciate fresh ginger more. Having succeeded in making a refreshing no-caffeine "iced tea" with ginger and cinnamon sticks, I decided to try a side dish. Carrots should go well with ginger, n'est-pas? So cooked some carrot slices with chopped ginger, drained, then put in a non-stick sauce pan and added about 1/2 a tablespoon of apricot fruit spread and gently cooked til the fruit spread melted and coated the carrots. I'll let it set overnight and have with ham tomorrow. Stay tuned for how that turned out =D

I was a dedicated library user... but 2 reasons I stopped... One because our libraries here have almost completely turned themselves into Computer Hubs... at the expense of all new books... over a period of the final year I used the libraries I could only ever find a handful of new books and they were always fiction..( no fiction for me)>. further to that, the noise from students clacking on computers and chatting amongst themselves, as well as children allowed to run free and noisily, meant it was no longer the relaxing place I was looking for...

Secondly..is the deadline as you mentioned.. altho' we can renew online for another 3 weeks.. it's still something that hangs over your head..knowing you'll face a fine if they're not back in time.. and as my library is in a completely different town.. it's not easy to just pop them in ... so I stopped using libraries after 50 years.. and now just buy all my books online..and donate them when I'm finished

Your carrots sound good!
I use ginger with parsnips in a chicken broth based soup that is pureed.

Nothing much going on for me.

Cleaned out the freezer, ditched a zip bag of roast pork and cabbage I made back in 1985 .

Cooked chicken for my dog and portioned it for the freezer, made egg salad for me.

There were sirens yesterday for quite a while. There were two motorcycle accidents at different locations but near to each other. One didn't survive.

Wind & rain came through last evening.
Thought there was no damage till I walked the dog,,,?? what is missing??
Big old willow tree toppled over where hubby puts pine logs that he doesn't use.

Mac got some up close time with a woodchuck this morning.

Been busy morning today,,new chair delivered,, guys came for forgotten tractor parts.:D
Later another person will come to get a tractor & the brush hog that goes with it.

May get rest of the day to our selves.;)

Oh my, tears in my eyes for you.
I had been wondering for the past few days, and thinking of asking you, how he is doing.
Sorry the update is not better.

That is a very big change, for both of you, within this short amount of time. :(
