What's for dinner ( or lunch )

My wife and 1 of her friends went to some casino in Connecticut until Wednesday so I’m home alone again. My wife made some Amish style chicken pot pie for me for dinner tonight, so that’s going to have to do. I really like it, so I am looking forward to it.

Aussies rarely eat mutton ….its mainly used in small goods because of its high FAT content , and its tough because of being older sheep , some hotels serve mutton stew type dishes in winter.

I haven’t seen mutton in supermarkets for years,….. but even if I seen it I wouldn’t buy it it’s way way to high in fat content for me :sick::sick::sick:
Having lived on a huge sheep farm for many years before meeting my hubs, I know what sheep were bought by the butchers and it was old ewes who were past their breeding days.

Mutton is the meat of an older sheep, usually aged between two and five years. Being a matured meat, mutton has a generous Fat …. content and brings with it a depth of flavour that younger lamb simply hasn't had the chance to develop.

I have never eaten it before, but remember the Billy Crystal "Miracle Max" reference of Mutton in the Princess Bride.

Took some leftover roast beef in gravy from the freezer along with a pie crust and cool whip. I have potatoes cooking for mashed potatoes and some corn.
@Thanks Jules!! Pumpkin pie filling made just waiting for the crust to thaw.
 
I got a pot of chili ready to simmer and suddenly wished I had made hamburgers instead. I think what happened was I woke up to chilly weather, wanted something warm, and got stuck on autopilot. By noon the weather had warmed up quit a bit.
