My mother lived to be 97 and ate that way all her life. I know she put fat back in some things and of course, we had bacon. But they worked, they used their bodies in ways that would probably wear us out.

good! Me being a lazy cook, I'd never bother with making pies, but my mother used to make peaches and dumplings as well as cakes (she was known for her cakes) and pies. The P & Ds were so good and easy, I've made it a few times over the years but I eat too much of it, so haven't made it in a long time.
~Canned peaches
~Biscuit dough (for lazy me...canned dough)
~Sugar or sugar free sweetener to taste*
~Cinnamon to taste*
Combine the ingredients and boil until the dough looks cooked. Let cool a bit and enjoy. It's good warm or cold.
*I very rarely measure added ingredients.
