Yes I did . The ugly brown is the before picture.
I know a lot of people who cringe whenever anyone paints wood. They'd rather see it stripped, restored, and re-stained.

But most of us today don't have cabinets made of proper solid wood pieces of any real natural attractiveness. More importantly those are your cabinets and what you like is the most relevant thing.

67° here today and rain coming this weekend (yay!) so I'll run a few errands today.

Some may remember me talking about my very sore ribs. The injury was 3 weeks ago today and it was finally starting to be less painful. On Monday afternoon my grandson gave me a hug - not a rough one, just a hug. Unfortunately, his 11-year-old height meant the squeeze hit right at the point of my injured ribs. AAAACCCKKK! I'm right back to the same level of pain I felt on the 29th. So now I fear it might be something more than a deep bruise.

I emailed my doctor to ask for X-rays, but he called this morning wanting me to come in. I just want some X-rays to know what's happening. If there's a break and it needs investigation or treatment, I'll obviously go in to see him. If it's just a bruise then it means just toughing it out, no face-to-face appointment needed.

Since @AnnieA recommended the purchase of an oximeter back in early Covid days, I'd been monitoring those levels since the injury and could report to the doc that my blood oxygen has remained in the 97-100 range. That probably tipped the scales in favor of approving the X-rays, waiting to hear the results and then deciding on any course of action.

After breakfast I'll run over to get the Xray and hit the dollar store on the way home for a few items I'm low on.

Hope everything checks out okay and that you mend quickly!

I actually won’t paint an antique in decent condition. This cabinet wasn’t an antique but it was real wood. I have some beautiful antiques. Painting antiques in poor condition can really bring them back to life and save them.

I had a solid oak bedroom set that I bought 27 years ago and I was sick of it. So when I downsized to my condo I only kept the big dresser with a mirror. I had my friend that’s an artist paint it and she even painted some flowers on it and it’s gorgeous. I gave the rest of the set away.

Oh, that is lovely!

I have an almost identical chest of drawers with an oval mirror, in plain white... I would love it to look as good as yours...

I used to restore furniture many years ago...

unfortunately now.. I wouldn't be able to get the drawers downstairs and into the garden to paint it.. and where it's situated in the room, there's not enough space to pull it away from the wall to paint indoors.. but yours is beautiful.. What paint did you use ?

My friend used milk paint. She’s an artist. She actually did this in my house. We pulled the rest of the furniture away from it and laid tarps. It took her 27 hours. It weighs a ton so couldn’t take it to the garage.

I timed how long it took her because she was considering starting a business doing it. Once she realized how much time she spent she couldn’t charge enough to make it worthwhile. Plus she gets 60/hour consulting. So she did some pieces for herself and me.

@hollydolly Yabbut tomorrow the inside of your car will still be clean.

@Remy Did you find a place to buy or are you still on the hunt?
Thanks for asking. Still looking. I passed on a really sweet place because the inspection stated it had "quest" plumbing which could have leaking problems. The sellers already had the inspection. I could have had the place replumbed. I don't know what I was thinking. But who knows, maybe they would not have taken my offer if someone wrote a letter or something with their offer. I'm so tired of looking. And working.

Home. Walked both ways, about 40 minutes each way. The walk showed me, with a slap, that I would do myself a big favor if I walked even a half hour, almost every day. My right calf was killing me. I could have taken a bus; they run frequently; decided to tough it out. On the way home the pain was there but a wee bit less. Or, I could just stop walking altogether and get a wheelchair. Now that I've scared myself, I chose the former.

If I get any phone calls from my doctor's office, concerning today, it won't be a good thing. I'd hear one of his assistants screaming at me in a Russian accent: "Dok Torr wants you should have pit skan" I'll yell back at her, like I always do, it helps relieve tension. So I hope I hear Nothink, nothink.

~ I had an appointment for a bone density test today but called and rescheduled because I did not feel like being out in this cold.

~ Revised my budget spreadsheet to include the payments for my granddaughter's tuition after calling & getting the figures from the bursar's office.

~Cleared the mail & papers to be filed off the dining table. Since we hardly ever eat there, they accumulated over the past few days.

~A good friend, who is a recording artist & music producer, called this evening and two of the things we talked about were which computer & production program would best serve my music production needs.

~In between naps I played a few games on my phone & tablet: Skee ball, Block Puzzle, Crossmath, Mahjong, Find Differences and of course, Words with Friends & Cody Cross.

~Dancing again tonight. 💃

If I can get the car through the snow, Mrs L and I have an dental checkup and a scale & polish with the hygienist.
We line on a minor road and a few days ago, a gritter lorry with a snow plough was clearing the main road through the village and simply dumped a load of snow across the road where I live. A few vehicles have got through so hopefully we'll manage it.

After the dentist, we've got some shopping to so. At least everything is in the same town.

It's 45 here. Sounds nice until I kept reading the forecast. By the time I get off work it'll be down in the mid-30s.

Today starts a 4-day stretch at work. Four days in a row is a day too much, but it's inventory day on Monday so I gotta work.

Spring is 60 days away.

OW!
Everything hurts from my walk yesterday, everything. I can see how easy it is to just give in, but I won't; I will not; not mentally ready to give up. But omg, I'm in pain. Ice at my lower back, and the back of my neck, will relieve some inflammation. Too bad I can't ice my legs. I'm truly suffering!
