What have you bought recently?

This is what I bought - washed them and as I started to put them on the guest bed, fell in love...lol. I have had a couple of favorite sets of old sheets from the 80's that felt like these - since then I've not been able to find them no matter what I paid until now that is.

Thank you for the link. I bought similar sheets from Amazon last July and love them for their softness, but wasn't sure if microfiber would be cool enough for summer. Turns out they aren't hot, but they don't offer the same coolness as percale.

For now, I'm using MF for colder weather (washing when I change the sheets and putting them right back on the bed) and alternating my three (elderly) sets of percales during warm weather. I love the linens in nicer hotels. So smooth and cool...

These are what I bought from Amazon:

I finally found a denim skirt ! I've been looking for months on Amazon and at my favorite thrift-consignment shop, which is where I found it yesterday. Amazon had denim skirts from about $40 to $429. The skirts were either too long or way too short. When I went to the shop a couple of times last year, they didn't have any denim skirts at all, so I'm glad I decided to give it another try.

This skirt is ankle length and cost $5.99 with the additional Monday discount. As you can see, it's brand new and the manufacturer's tag is still on it. The color is a bit darker than shown here. I also bought a thin, foldable nylon shopping bag to keep in my tote (purse) from the shop, discounted at $1.35. I bought diabetic socks from another discount store and a night light from the 99 cent (and up) store.

I fell off my don’t-buy-much wagon. Exceeded my monthly limit ($25) by $10 already. I was killing time in a thrift store and didn’t even get a cart or basket. Next thing I knew my arms were full. I’m like a crow; I love bright clothing. Found two Coldwater Creek jackets that fit great and then I had to search for little tops for underneath. Everything was half price.

Today I’ll have to find things that must leave the house to compensate for these purchases. It’s not about the money; it’s about having too much.

Magpie !!:D

Today I bought new distance glasses online... Even having the lenses thinned to 1.6mm.. and paying £15 VAT (Tax)... the cost was only £42.95

This compares to the distance sunglasses that I got from Specsavers in December..same prescription same thinning, and a terrible service where the made the wrong prescription, then lost the specs and took 2 weeks to do it.. and they cost well over £200 for one pair...

As they've done this to me twice I said I'll never shop with them again.. and I won't... how they can justify such a huge difference in price is beyond me..

I purchased this 'Electric Spin Scrubber' from Walmart recently, I'm hoping I can clean baseboards and A/C return air vents with it without bending over....it has many good reviews and can be used to clean many things, the shower was mentioned most.

I'll be very interested to hear your opinion. Please let us know what you think of it.

Spent nothing again. Paycheck is safely stashed in my EF except for the odd $22. I only like even numbers. Okay $22 is an even number. Savings gets an even $50 or $100, but not an odd $22.
Reminds me when I was young I babysat for man who would only pay me in an even amount...and he always rounded up.
So, if he owed me nine, I got ten. I liked his style.

Oh! I like the detail on it. You really did get a bargain @OneEyedDiva :)

I ordered my computer! :D I had to have it shipped to my son's job. I hope it comes in on a day he is working. I just happened to find out on the 14th that Costco was having a tech sale starting that day; their monthly sale started earlier in the month. Lo and behold, the computer I wanted was on sale!!! It is the one my friend who is also a music producer recommended would be best for producing my music. She had mentioned it would be best to get it from Costco. It's the Dell XPS desktop with Windows 11.

I had my son review the specs and he's pleased with what this computer offers and can do. He said the processor is very fast. Costco charged $699, which included the $300 discount, one year on site service plus a 2 year warranty and McAfee security software. My son has an extra monitor so I won't have to spring for that unless I get finicky and want an updated one for better display quality.

Micro Center's base price for the same model is $1,199 which only includes a 1 year warranty, 12 months of McAfee. They offer a 10% automatic discount when applying for their credit card, which I would have done. Also, they charge close to $200 for an extended warranty. So taxes included, Costco was $762.35. If I'd gotten the computer from Micro Center, including the extended warranty, I would have paid around $1,274.

Oh, goody. My massive $102 income tax refund is going to be sent next week. Let's hope I don't get all carried away and buy a Mercedes or a 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom house on six acres or hire a chauffeur, a cook, a housekeeper and a gardener.

I made "so much" money in 2023 that I had to pay tax on part of my SS. At my age, I gotta pay taxes while there is one among us who lives in a mansion in Florida and owns a private jet who pays (much) less than $1000/year    Note to self: do not get political or anything...
At least you get a refund GG. I always have to pay. Last year was a little less than usual, $172. The year before that it was $208. So go ahead and go crazy with your refund. Get that Mercedes if you want. :ROFLMAO:

My wife wanted a dash cam put in her car. Best Buy wanted $400 installed. I bought my own dash cam and am planning on installing it next weekend. I paid about $130 for the camera. On the box, they estimate the installation time as 1 hour. I will plan on at least twice that.

I can't get my dash cam to stay stuck on the window.. no matter how I try...

Needed to go to a Dollar Store for ziplock freezer bags. Also got a couple of pairs of reading glasses and pistachio pudding mix. It doesn’t take much to make me happy.

Into another charity store and found a nice-sized serving Corelle bowl for $6.

Yesterday I went back to the 50% discount sale to look at an Eddie Bauer travel dress I’d seen. $10 and it was brand new with the tag and the original price for $120. I actually found it on the EB site. The model filled out the top better than I can. Second best thing, it has pockets.

I bought one new 128gb thumb drive... when it arrived I couldn't believe my eyes. first thing I thought was.. I'm going to lose that in a flash... it is Soooooo tiny.... this is the smallest storage device I've ever seen.

I have external Harddrives.. and I have thumb drives in fact my last thumb drives were pretty recent and they are small.. so not so long ago things might have changed drastically.. but this is just Gob-smacked me..it's absolutely minute and has 128gb of storage..

it's twice the size of my vitamin pill, , only as wide as the length of my pinkie nail and as thick as just 2 playing cards...

It's going to have to live on my keyring otherwise I'll never see it again...

I'll take a photie in a while, I'm too lazy to go downstairs and get my phone ATM

ETA... here's the photos for comparison...

Here in Pennsylvania, they don’t allow anything stuck to the windshield to pass state inspection. My dash cam mounting kit includes 2 different styles of clamps. I can either clamp it to the edge of the dash or there’s a clamp to put around the rear view mirror.

Same here so when the car goes for it's annual MOT test the dash cam if on the window has to be taken off.. equally anything hanging from the rear view mirror like an air freshener ...
