Anyone else already started getting 2025 calendars and monthly planners in the mail from your banks, charities you exposed decades ago and stopped giving to, and ones that still have some credibility, etc?
Some of these have beautiful monthly pictures, but how many does one need? Do you use paper calendars any more anyway?
I usually offer them to my older neighbors. I never hurts to have one up somewhere around the house. But as of today I already have 3 calendars and 2 planners... with more almost certainly on the way.
Today I also pitched out a pile of certificates from my employer. "Five years of service, 10, 15, etc." as well as more awarded on successful completion of big projects or interstate and international collaborations. Fancy embossed vellum, heavy sturdy paperboard cover folders - into the trash they go. I'll keep the pins and medals, they don't take space and the plating hasn't peeled or corroded or anything. Some of those go back to high school Latin Club pins. The pinback coin from the Royal Bahamas Police Force is attractive and even seems to be heavily gold plated.
But not even my kids show any interest in this stuff. I'll look for a small wooden chest with clasp to hold the pins and such, class rings, my old white gold wedding band, a silver pocket watch I was awarded back in the day, etc.
