I woke up sleeping in the chair I usually do my night time reading in.
I had gone to the bathroom & wandered into that room.
Sat down & thought how quiet it was in there.

The AC unit in our room seemed loud to me.

Hope every one stays cool today.

I think hubby plans on us just traveling around in the car with AC on.

I'm not in favor of an all day car drive to some restaurant where everything is greasy food.

Rather suffer the heat at home,, with the dog & chores that aren't getting done. 🙃

Woke at 3 AM for no obvious reason. 3:07 I get a text from a friend who can't sleep, too troubled by a difficult life. A few exchanges and by 3:30 she was asleep again. Soon I was back to sleep and stayed that way until morning.

Not sure which is stranger: growing psychic powers or network of troubled people out there.😥

I have decided I am never buying new frames from the Opticians again. I get mine at a vastly reduced price online.. and they are much better quality ... I don't need new specs at the moment anyway...
I haven't needed new glasses for several years. Our opticians offer a range of modestly priced 2 for 1 deals - ordinary glasses and prescription sunglasses. I might well be able to get cheaper online, but I'm pleased with the personal service that my local opticians give.

yes there's 2 for one deals here too, as long as you choose specs over a certain price. usually over £70... but I have strong prescription so I need my lenses thinned.. and that adds an extra £60 per pair of specs.. plus then the scratch proofing, etc... and even in Specsavers choosing frames around £70 or £80 initially.. by the time they've thinned them and all the rest... they cost me around £300-£400 or more for readers and distance specs...plus they have a poor selection of frames..and I've found that despite the scratch proofing.. they still scratch badly..

OTOH the online have a much better choice of frames.. cheaper... and the whole thinning etc is also cheaper... last distance specs was a total of £70....

..or someone texting you at past 3am.. and waking you up...

I'm part of a text group of longtime friends, most of whom live in a time zone three hours ahead of mine. I was awakened more than once at 4 am due to their early morning texting. No more. My phone is set to go on Do Not Disturb mode from 11 pm - 7 am.

Other than my designated emergency contacts and local emergency warnings, I receive no audible notifications during those hours.

Did you take B-vitamins (B-12 especially) and Iron supplement, during the time in between, or did he just have you waiting, and did you get better result anyway?
Glad you are doing some better, now.

I did take B12 and iron but not because it was prescribed. I did it because someone with the same problem was told to take them. Sounds like you think it was a good idea too. :)

Do you have your phone set to “Do Not Disturb”? And, if so, did she know that, otherwise it’s pretty rude to text someone in the middle of the night.
People know I'm available.

For most of my work career taking phone calls in the middle of the night and even going in then was just part of the job. Night shift guys were often amused as they gradually prodded me to consciousness so I could provide a solution to the problem.

Hot. Daisies aren't getting planted again today. Maybe tomorrow. Or better yet, on my day off Monday. The flowers got watered. That's enough for today.

Rant ahead:

It was a day. Most everybody in the store was grumbling about the new schedules because all part-time employees' hours have been cut. I don't care. Mine only cut an hour on each of three days, but then there's Cookie. Her hours weren't cut. Maybe they figured it wasn't worth bothering about since she only shows up when she feels like it anyway. I swear that child is the epitome of an entitled NEET. Kids like her are why all Gen Zs get a bad rap.

She was there yesterday and left an entire rack of unpackaged cookies. In a four-hour shift she should be able to bake, package, label and shelve enough cookies for two days. She doesn't. Since she's there alone and unsupervised, nobody knows what it is that she does except get paid for four hours. Assistant store manager took a picture of the rack of cookies and said "the problem is being worked on." Mmhmm.

Meanwhile, our newest hire got a whopping 12 hours next week. It's a guaranteed way to make her find another job. Swell. If she could work Cookie's hours, we'd be in clover.

One supervisor told me this morning that she cut 15 hours out of her own schedule to divide up among her three people. To make up the 15 hours she's helping out in other departments here and there.

Mine too... anyone outside of these hours who has an emergency can call my landline....

I'm watching the pageantry of Ascot right now. I'm swimming upstream with the burning desire to put on a flowered dress and a fawncy hat and speak with a plummy accent.

Unfortunately, I have neither a flowered dress nor a fawncy hat and Suth'run talk just ain't plummy, no matter how I try. I can do a decent Cockney, though.....

Anyway, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Well I hope you didn't learn it from Dick Van Doik :oops:
