How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

11:30am PDT and am done poking keys on my laptop. Re-evaluated aesthetic values on about a thousand images this last day. Forecast is for 85F high this pm but only 65F in the cool marine air of SF. Yeah tis summer now. Yesterday prepped and gather gear for a 2-night backpack into wilderness after this weekend. But for the rest of this Saturday, will drive up to The City for some urban street fun.

Hot. Daisies aren't getting planted again today. Maybe tomorrow. Or better yet, on my day off Monday. The flowers got watered. That's enough for today.

Rant ahead:

It was a day. Most everybody in the store was grumbling about the new schedules because all part-time employees' hours have been cut. I don't care. Mine only cut an hour on each of three days, but then there's Cookie. Her hours weren't cut. Maybe they figured it wasn't worth bothering about since she only shows up when she feels like it anyway. I swear that child is the epitome of an entitled NEET. Kids like her are why all Gen Zs get a bad rap.

She was there yesterday and left an entire rack of unpackaged cookies. In a four-hour shift she should be able to bake, package, label and shelve enough cookies for two days. She doesn't. Since she's there alone and unsupervised, nobody knows what it is that she does except get paid for four hours. Assistant store manager took a picture of the rack of cookies and said "the problem is being worked on." Mmhmm.

Meanwhile, our newest hire got a whopping 12 hours next week. It's a guaranteed way to make her find another job. Swell. If she could work Cookie's hours, we'd be in clover.

One supervisor told me this morning that she cut 15 hours out of her own schedule to divide up among her three people. To make up the 15 hours she's helping out in other departments here and there.
Bet she's on her phone most of her shift.

Well ac just took a powder. 113f yesterday…so guess what i get to do….old unit 18 years old…
I proactively replaced the 30 year old HVAC unit in March. Talk about living dangerously. I don’t know what I was thinking letting it go so long. The new unit is using far less kwh’s.

Hope yours gets repaired soon. I lost power for a day in July two years ago. It was a miserable, suffering experience.

I'm frustrated today. I was up very late Thursday night and up quite early finishing a long, complicated article. Then I frittered away all day yesterday after sending it in. Now I am fighting depression and anxiety and trying to make up the work time I wasted. 😟

Before you tackle the next thing, do something physical even if you don't want to because...depressed and anxious. Go for a walk? A couple of trips up and down stairs? Vacuum? Anything that requires some energy.

Thank you! Yes, I have been debating going for a walk or at least, as you said, taking a few trips up and down the stairs in my building.
I have to add (yes, I'm replying to my own post) that I haven't been eating well or exercising properly the past several days. I've let my stress levels drive me toward hamburgers and pizza instead of healthier options, and I haven't gotten in a walk or a bike ride in nearly a week. So I am feeling not only anxious and depressed but also guilty and bloated.

I'm determined to get back on track today, though.

I probably should have posted this in the "venting" thread.

Hello, all.
I am still not recovered from my overdone week, of multiple medical appointments, and hurting myself on a piece of our furniture, in between.

So I am doing next to nothing, today, just nursing my symptoms, and hoping for a better day.

I saw some wild birds out the window, yesterday and today, which I always love to see.
Quite a few cardinals, this week. All of their family members attend the feeder near the window.

DH managed to make a big pot of pea soup. I'm limited in what I am able to eat, so yes, we make soup, year-round.

We have the small a/c unit, partly for that reason;
because we do need to cook warm soft foods, for both of us, at this point in our lives. Regardless of the weather or the season.

I'm busy patting the cat (love having her) and checking on some posts.
Saying hello to all of you, here!

DD is just home. Apparently DGS's ear infection has worsened. o_O Yet another medication - a sulfa type antibiotic. If he hasn't improved by Monday he'll have a same day appt with the group's ENT.
I had one I'll never forget. I had just started a new job and thankfully, my supervisor was very understanding because I had to take off a couple of days. Ear infections are very painful, poor baby! I hope he gets better real soon.

I was up in the middle of the night as usual and started making sure I did and had everything necessary for my lab appointment this morning. I also gave myself a manicure. My son is having car problems (again) so his vehicle is in the shop. My honorary daughter (HD) took me to my appointment, the next town over. There were two phlebotomists in the room. I had drank a lot of water as recommended and every time you turn around, I had to go to the bathroom. But apparently more water does help with blood flow, so mine flowed better than usual. They use a butterfly with the thin tube for me.

When I saw the tube was almost empty, I thought I was done, but my blood just suddenly stopped flowing. So I had to get stuck twice. :sneaky: Blessedly, I didn't even feel the stick Maria, the second phlebotomist gave me. I don't have veins where regular people have veins. Maria had to search the other arm (right) and found a tiny one that seemed to flow better than the plump one on top of my left arm.

After the lab work was done, HD and I stopped a Dollar Tree which was in the same area as the lab. I had a protein bar with me, so I ate part of that which held me until I got home. Just as well because I didn't see any fast food places on the way. I fixed two cheese blintzes, had a Haagen Daz ice cream bar, watched TV and fell asleep. I woke up right when my BFF called, made another call after talking with her I made a quick dinner (frozen spinach-mozzarella ravioli). After I ate, had a nice conversation with my son, then sorted laundry. Now it's time for dessert and more TV.

I'm so sorry to read that you hurt yourself Kaila and that you overdid it this week. But it seems some things were necessary. Take good care.

Currently watching the clouds rolling in and hoping that maybe they will bring rain. There is lightening off in the distance but since it was cloudy all day here I doubt that we will get a storm tonight. Usually the storms come in after a hot sunny day. But one can only hope. Such is life on a summer night here in Phoenix...lol. Mother Nature can be such a tease at times.

When the daytime temperature goes over 90F in the shade, then I go hiking with me pups at sunrise and sunset when it's more
comfortable. During daytime, my pups sleep in the garden. But when it gets over 85F, then I bring them inside the air-conditioned house.

Today 105F with 17% humidity ("70.5" is near the air-condition outlet).................Sunrise over the San Bernardino Mountains

Glad you've chosen to take your hike at cooler times of the day. You guys be careful out there!

So today's bakery adventure is about to begin. The whole neighborhood will be looking for 🥐 🥐 for Sunday morning breakfast.

It's gonna be hot. Thought I'd let y'all know so that you won't be surprised when I announce that later this morning;)

Kaila, feel better soon! Like right now...
