Can you show pics of your finished fence @hollydolly? I thought the first coat was a beautiful job and I want to see the finished product. Thanks.
Ahhh... the non-food specialty items. My daughter and her friends refer to that as Aldi's A.O.S. - aisle of shame. I almost never buy anything besides food at Aldi, but she and her crew have brought home some pretty cool items at quite good prices.aye and only crisps, rice, a cucumber and tomatoes were edibles. Did manage to include 2 x 4 packs of fruity cider and a bottle of Raspberry and blackcurrant gin though.....![]()
It's nice of you to say..but it's far from perfect unfortunately, mainly due to the pain in my hands I had to get it done very quickly... so couldn't be as good as Id like it to be..Can you show pics of your finished fence @hollydolly? it's quite a dark green..Forest green.. It's called Cuprinol Ducksback Forest green, first timeI've used this ... I always use the green on the fences whatever paint I use .. and have to paint them every 2 years..but this time this Ducksback is supposed to repel water.. so we'll see in 2 years time whether it needs it again..I love that greenish tint to your fence, @hollydolly. Looks real nice!
Doesn’t she want to drive you?Um. I sort of mentioned to DD that I want to find a job after healing from the cataract surgery and got shot down almost before the words were out of my mouth
Is your daughter against it because she's thinking she'll have to get up at 4am again.. to drive you ?.. or what's her objection ?@hollydolly I'm exhausted after you did all that work on your fence
Um. I sort of mentioned to DD that I want to find a job after healing from the cataract surgery and got shot down almost before the words were out of my mouth. I mean, not a hard physical job like in the bakery, but something fun and busy for maybe just 20 hrs/week. Actually, I had my eye on the table at Dollar Tree with a sign that says "Now Hiring." They don't pay much (around $11.50/hr), but who cares?
That table was there when we were in there last week. It's still there, but by the time I'm able to go to work, it might be too late because it'll already be getting close to the holidays...HallowThanksMas...so maybe too late to get hired. But by then, a lot of the garden will already have been put to bed. It's a long time between then and spring.
I like to be out where the lights and the people are. Jussayin'.
sorry Jules I didn't see your postDoesn’t she want to drive you?
No that's really quite unfair...you snooze you lose.. if you need something to keep body and mind well oiled there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't go and work a few hours a week..plus it gets you chatting to other people, and then you have more to bring the table when you're t home@hollydolly Nah...she just thinks I should stay home and veg and be an old lady. Trouble is that once the garden is put to bed, it's a long stretch until time to start planting again in Feb-u-dreary or March.
I love it!It's nice of you to say..but it's far from perfect unfortunately, mainly due to the pain in my hands I had to get it done very quickly... so couldn't be as good as Id like it to be..
This is the left side finished..not all the fence but I'm not showing my whole garden...
Remember this is a Weatherproofing wood Stain rather than a paint... so it doesn't give the finish of a paint...
That's not a weed btw at the side of the Barrel.. they are my newly planted flowers... . I've already started on the other side.. painted 2 panels...but now my hands are too sore to carry on, plus it's hot out there, my garden is a sun trap...![]()
I would have thought for Sheila Jackson Lee @GeorgiagrannyIt has been a busy day for me, watching all of the news coming in. Netanyahu conference with president has been cancelled, AF2 in Delaware (new pres being sworn in /rumors), and checking the White House live cam. All the flags are at half mast, anyone know why ?
I think we will have even more news before this day is over, so also keeping up with that on my other online hangout.
Looks great!this is 4 of the panels on the other side finished now...

got 4 more to do then then rest ( 10) are behind trees and shrubs.. but this little area is where I have all the plants hanging on the fence ( they've still mostly got to go back on).. and the plant pots next to the bird bath
Maybe you could get a loom?@hollydolly If I had something to do at home, I wouldn't mind so much, but I don't knit or crochet or do anything like that. I've tried teaching myself to knit from "Knitting for Dummies," but I'm left-handed (mostly) and hold things differently than even other left-handers do, like upside down maybe? (Tried turning the book upside down!) My ambidextrous aunt tried to teach me, but even she threw her hands up in despair. Dang. Both aunts and my mother could all knit, crochet and even tat, but my talents lay somewhere else. Never have figured out where. Knit one, purl one...
I'd like to work weekends when there are lots of peeps around. Most other people aren't fond of working Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
Well. We'll see. I can't do anything until around mid-September anyway.
ETA: BTW, genius idea to save toting the stain around or having to bend over to get to it.
