aye and only crisps, rice, a cucumber and tomatoes were edibles. Did manage to include 2 x 4 packs of fruity cider and a bottle of Raspberry and blackcurrant gin though.....😄
Ahhh... the non-food specialty items. My daughter and her friends refer to that as Aldi's A.O.S. - aisle of shame. I almost never buy anything besides food at Aldi, but she and her crew have brought home some pretty cool items at quite good prices.

Did what I said I wouldn't do again. Went with DD and DGD to 1. UPS so DGD could return something to Amazon, 2. Walgreen's, 3. Dollar Tree, 4. Kroger. This time it was just in and out again except Dollar Tree because DGD and I didn't get a chance to see everything when we were there last week.

When checking out at Walgreen's had a convo with the clerk about Dollar Tree because when we said it was the next stop, she said she hadn't been in there in more than a year because it was so nasty that she couldn't stand going there any longer. We said we were going because it's changed so much and is so neat, clean and tidy now that we didn't get to see everything. She was surprised and said she's going to check it out today when her shift is over before she goes home.

This time the whole excursion only lasted about an hour. Yay.

I still haven't made the rounds in the garden. Now that we've had decent rain and with more expected, I should have included the garden center in my travels this morning to get weed & feed for the lawn. Darn. Maybe tomorrow. The lawn is greening up nicely, but it's not the same green as a really healthy lawn should be.

Can you show pics of your finished fence @hollydolly? I thought the first coat was a beautiful job and I want to see the finished product. Thanks.
It's nice of you to say..but it's far from perfect unfortunately, mainly due to the pain in my hands I had to get it done very quickly... so couldn't be as good as Id like it to be..

This is the left side finished..not all the fence but I'm not showing my whole garden...

Remember this is a Weatherproofing wood Stain rather than a paint... so it doesn't give the finish of a paint...

That's not a weed btw at the side of the Barrel.. they are my newly planted flowers... . I've already started on the other side.. painted 2 panels...but now my hands are too sore to carry on, plus it's hot out there, my garden is a sun trap...

Just finished doing the flea treatment on my bunny. No medication or chemical. A flea comb and soapy water. All done for today. Didn't find any. Before that I did the vacuuming. Walked out to the dumpster and it was too hot for me. Now have to clean his cage (yes, bunnies are a lot of work!).

Rushed around this morning so I could get out for an early walk. It wasn’t very long, maybe 1.5 miles return. Better than nothing. It was in the high 90s at 9 pm yesterday.

Today I’ll continue cleaning the fridge. A soy sauce mix had spilled and I cleaned that mess yesterday. Didn’t get everything finished before we had to out so today is all the jars on the door. Time to toss a few. I’d rather pay a bit more for smaller bottles, because I feel guilty throwing away the larger sized ones.

@Jules...Thanks a whole lot for the reminder (she said, sarcastically). LOL I've been so concerned with getting the cabinets cleaned inside and out that I forgot about the fridge. I don't know what all might be growing in there. Now I've got that on my mind, too.

So far, some have been cleaned out, then I got to the drawers. What a PITA! I found an old phone book from 2008 in my UP hometown. I flipped through it and saw a whole bunch of places/people that aren't even there anymore. Didn't think I'd be needing it again so it went into the trash. Also found at least a dozen old kitchen towels that are worn/faded. Those went into the rag bag. Oven mitts...half dozen of those, too, but I can't seem to part with them except for the ones that got scorched or just worn out.

Next up is under the kitchen sink. There's no telling what kinds of "treasures" are under there. That's gonna wait until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the garden is being neglected.

It has been a busy day for me, watching all of the news coming in. Netanyahu conference with president has been cancelled, AF2 in Delaware (new pres being sworn in /rumors), and checking the White House live cam. All the flags are at half mast, anyone know why ?
I think we will have even more news before this day is over, so also keeping up with that on my other online hangout.

I love that greenish tint to your fence, @hollydolly. Looks real nice!
it's quite a dark green..Forest green.. It's called Cuprinol Ducksback Forest green, first timeI've used this ... I always use the green on the fences whatever paint I use .. and have to paint them every 2 years..but this time this Ducksback is supposed to repel water.. so we'll see in 2 years time whether it needs it again..

@hollydolly I'm exhausted after you did all that work on your fence😓

Um. I sort of mentioned to DD that I want to find a job after healing from the cataract surgery and got shot down almost before the words were out of my mouth:(. I mean, not a hard physical job like in the bakery, but something fun and busy for maybe just 20 hrs/week. Actually, I had my eye on the table at Dollar Tree with a sign that says "Now Hiring." They don't pay much (around $11.50/hr), but who cares?

That table was there when we were in there last week. It's still there, but by the time I'm able to go to work, it might be too late because it'll already be getting close to the holidays...HallowThanksMas...so maybe too late to get hired. But by then, a lot of the garden will already have been put to bed. It's a long time between then and spring.

I like to be out where the lights and the people are. Jussayin'.

Is your daughter against it because she's thinking she'll have to get up at 4am again.. to drive you ?.. or what's her objection ?

As for the fence Gigi...I really detest doing those fence. but it's one of those jobs that has to be done regularly or pay a lot of money for a lot of new fence panels... fortunately there's none out front... but 100 feet of fencing both sides.. about 60 feet have to be painted.... It's a back killer as well as now for the first time, painful holding the paint brush.

to solve the back issue a little bit I popped the tin into a Plastic trug.. and took the Bird bath off it's stand and put the bucket on there..

I was just thinking there's a 40 something male lives right of me and an other 40 something male lives left of me... and neither one of them do any work in the garden..aside from mowing.. no painting no D-I_Y... nothing... the 90 year old very on the ball lady to the right of me has a gardener who charges double the going rate.. but she pays it cuz she knows him.....to the left of me is the old man's house that sits empty that has the subsidence, and his hedges are just gone mad straggly.. you'd think the 40's something guy who lives between our houses would tackle the old mans' hedge but nope... .

@hollydolly Nah...she just thinks I should stay home and veg and be an old lady👵. Trouble is that once the garden is put to bed, it's a long stretch until time to start planting again in Feb-u-dreary or March.
No that's really quite unfair...you snooze you lose.. if you need something to keep body and mind well oiled there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't go and work a few hours a week..plus it gets you chatting to other people, and then you have more to bring the table when you're t home

@hollydolly If I had something to do at home, I wouldn't mind so much, but I don't knit or crochet or do anything like that. I've tried teaching myself to knit from "Knitting for Dummies," but I'm left-handed (mostly) and hold things differently than even other left-handers do, like upside down maybe? (Tried turning the book upside down!) My ambidextrous aunt tried to teach me, but even she threw her hands up in despair. Dang. Both aunts and my mother could all knit, crochet and even tat, but my talents lay somewhere else. Never have figured out where. Knit one, purl one...

I'd like to work weekends when there are lots of peeps around. Most other people aren't fond of working Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

Well. We'll see. I can't do anything until around mid-September anyway.

ETA: BTW, genius idea to save toting the stain around or having to bend over to get to it.

I would have thought for Sheila Jackson Lee @Georgiagranny

Maybe you could get a loom?
