My grandson is coming Tuesday! DD and the girls are tagging along on her MIL's work conference at Great Wolf Lodge. They can do so much more without having to chase a two year old.
I've got to get to the grocery tomorrow. That boy can eat!
I have figured out how to put my afghan back together. It's just going to take some time.

Oh, and it rained last night! A good amount, enough to give the yard a good drink. Not sure where it came from but we'll take it!
Please send some of that rain north @hearlady ... we are parched!

Hope you have a blast with your grandson. Love to feed kids.

I went to an American History Museum today. The first users of fans and toasters must have been brave people, they didn't have safety cages around the blades or covers over the electric toasting wires. Just looking at them I had to hold my fingers safely curled up inside fists!
Old style toasters:

Then there was a display of a homemade little boat that some migrant arrived in 80 years ago, with the most alarming button that said push to smell what it was like to be a migrant on the boat. I didn't have the courage and moved on, but I saw another person do it, so I circled back and tried it. Just smelled like the ocean to me (thank goodness)!

when you think of it..80 years ago wasn't that long ago...that was 1944.. and we were in the latter stages of WW2..so how those migrants got across on a boat during the war..goodness knows...

I'm loving the toasters, never seen those before...

It's the time of the year ........ Why so early this year? When our kids were little, we always celebrated on October 31st

My grandson at a church Halloween Party

Going to cardiologist today to check for blood clots in legs. I think I'm okay. The hardest part will be leaving home and being with people. I have hermitized myself for the last few days, now I'm afraid to leave.

This week, I'll try to be normal and do my normal stuff. No, not try. Will be normal this week. Must attend to real life, which I have been avoiding due to severe stress I encumbered myself with.

It's a busy, but thankfully inexpensive time for me. It was Son's birthday yesterday, Younger daughter's on Halloween and Mrs. L's on 1st. Nov., but we just send cards for birthdays. A few people might have fireworks at Halloween, but there are no organised displays in the immediate area.
we have a similar expensive time in April.....

There are clouds in the sky this morning! But only a 16% chance of rain at night. Pretty chilly at 44F.
Heat is on.

Trying to decide whether to go to Aldi's for the few things I need or setting up a delivery. Ah, maybe I'll go.

Doggie was much better yesterday. Put weight on that rear leg more often, but slept a lot due to pain med. Refreshed, she wanted to play at chasing a tossed toy (about 4-5 feet away), tail wagging and no panting! I guess she'll always have a limp now, but she's not a good candidate for surgery.

I feel like making some soup; whether beef & veggie with barley or chicken tortilla.

Have some fun today, all!

DD and DGD want to drive up to the mountains and be leaf peepers. They think I should go. I don't wanna, but I will so they'll quit nagging. I'm gonna sit in the back seat because there's always a running commentary on what DGD is reading aloud from her phone or gossip about this friend or that, on who's dating whom, who has a new job or a new BF, yada, yada, yada.

It's hard to hear in the back seat. And the a/c doesn't blow in my face.

Leaves are leaves.

@Sliverfox Noooo! Don't eat that stuff. Spam should have ended when WWII ended.

I agree..Spam...:sick::sick:

Yesterday I picked up the Swiffer duster and didn't quit until I'd done the whole house (unused bedrooms excluded). It's been a while. Cleaning everything, including mopping the floors, and blitzing the kitchen and bathrooms took under an hour. Roomba handles the vacuuming twice a week, so didn't need to bother with that.

Every mid-November, DH and I deep clean the dining and living rooms. All contents on shelves and in the hutches (plus the shelves & hutches themselves) get washed, dried and put back in anticipation of holiday parties and the season. A few days later we arrange for our professional carpet cleaner to come in and work his magic.

Other than dusting, I stay ahead of the housework. Except for the 4 hour-ish November cleaning, the house is never more than 10 minutes from presentably clean and an hour from sparkling.

Got a load of laundry running now. Might run a few errands today. Will just have to see how the day spins out.

wet day. here, went to Citizens Advice this morning, needed advice on something,,what a noisy place people on speaker phones chatting away, nothing was private grrrr,,..,had a bad case of acid reflux later at home, just getting over it.
Oh @jet, I understand about the irritation of everyone talking on their phone like they are the only ppl in the room! Not only is the cacophony of noise overwhelming, some of those conversations are not for public consumption! 😒🙄🤦‍♀️
