We seemed to have a gang of unruly teenagers on our street last night. I do not participate anymore since I live alone. Seems like a time that bad people could trick you into opening the door.

My neighbor told me they had some big kids come to the door last night. No costumes and banged like crazy on their door. There was also a truck parked, running with lights on in front of their house. I saw them because big dog was out going crazy and I was in the backyard trying to get him in.

They were way too big to be trick or treating. The Mrs. neighbor told me she was yelling at the mister not to open the door but he did anyway. They had stepped off the porch by that time, she ran behind her husband, slammed the door and locked it.

I received 33 pics of son's family Trick/Treating in Upper East Side, Manhattan. Townhouses went all out to be spooky and entertaining. Everyone, all ages, in costume: son & grandson Spiderman, dil butterfly. The homes celebrating all decked out. Everyone had fun. Wish I had been there. They are drowning in candy!
There's a video of a Halloween Parade somewhere in NYC, maybe Manhattan? Brit goes to NY Halloween Parade. The guy calls himself a Brit, but he's actually a Scot. His wife is from South America...Brazil, I think. They were both awed by how Americans go all-out for Halloween.

We had several trick or treaters come to the house. After the first few, we sat out on the porch with our bucket of candy and a couple of neighbors. I was the only one who was dressed up, and apparently some of the kids thought I was a mannequin or whatever. Scared one little girl half to death when I leaned forward and held the bucket out toward her. I forgot I looked kind of like a Marilyn Manson scarecrow. She got to take an extra handful of candy.

Good times.

haha..I have to laugh at ''he calls himself a Brit, but he's actually a Scot''.. yep that makes him a Brit, as it does me and all Scots, Welsh, and but not Northern Ireland ... Britain is not just for the English...:sneaky: Britain encompasses 3 sovereign countries... as well as all the smaller islands, Isle of Wight, Anglesey, the Isles of Scilly, the Hebrides and the island groups of Orkney and Shetland

The United Kingdom ( UK ) however, .. encompasses 4 sovereign countries..which includes Northern Ireland... the Capital of the Uk is London.. as well as being the capital of England. However each sovereign country has its own Capital city.. Scotland has Edinburgh.. Wales has Cardiff.. Northern Ireland has belfas... but each capital city within the Uk is over-ruled by Central Governeent in London and the English parliament

Your British geography lesson for the day Dear Frank...:D

you have to be so careful now..I just don't open the door now after dark unless I know who it is for sure...

Today I am feeling pleased with myself.. I loaded the car completly to the roof.. and took a whole load of really good stuff to the Charity shop warehouse, which is a brilliant concept. It means I could get parked right up against their loading bay... no worries about trying to find a parking space near a shop, and carrying heavy things through the streets ... ...so I was able to give a huge donation of stuff for them to sell..

Then I went to the new recycle ( waste) centre which has opened just a few miles from my house, and got rid of a few duvets and pillows...

Then to tesco which is 2 towns further away and bought a bunch of sweet & savoury foods for Christmas... as well a few normal groceries..

I don't know what it is but I have some kind of draw to the isles of iWght and Shetland. I have a blog I read over here by a woman that lives in the state of Main but is obsessed with all things British. She lucky that she has the funds and has made many trips there. Just reading of her adventures and the places she has gone I have found addictive.

She had a custom aga stove at a cost of about 25,000 made and shipped here. She does craft type work, and I think it took her about a year to earn the money. Then she had to wait 6 months or more for it to arrive. It arrived damaged and the whole process had to started again.

She went to the Isle of Wight and spent a few weeks there as a retreat. This was her all alone and she loved the isolation and quiet. She worked on here hooked rugs there, spent time with the locals and took some cooking classes as I recall.

What a well lived adventurous life, she is married but seems her husband does not go but often her grown daughter travels with her. They travelled together to the fictious village of Port Wen where Doc Martin is filmed. If I remember correctly, they were able to stay in the Doc Martin cottage.

Sometimes I live through her travels, pretend I have the creative ability that she makes a good living from and have built a wonderful full life. My truth is far from that but it gives me comfort to know that there are people out there are able to live out their dreams within their finances.

you know the Isle of Wight is here in the South and isn't far from where I live . It's a popular holiday or day trip Island for Brits..

The Shetland Islands otoh is just about as far North as you can go in Scotland.. along with orkney .. and is not a holiday island.. it's quite remote, . It has 100 islands, of which 16 are inhabited... the total population is approx 25 thousand ... They are working islands..altho' they get very many visitors it's not somewhere people generally choose to take a vacation... usually they are day trip or cruises who pull in to the islands for just a few hours...

I feel for your friend with the Aga, I have a Mini Aga.. so I know how much she would have paid for hers...

Blessed you need not be envious of her.. next time you speak to her tell her you have a friend with whom you can stay anytime you like and will take you to the Islands of your choice... (y)

today i have been sleeping a lot,i think looking after the mrs is getting to me,,im feeling a tad better this evening, fingers crossed.
its been chilly here today, the heatings been on half the day.
Well you ain't no spring chicken, my friend, nor are you in the best of health yourself, so if your wife is still poorly, and you're looking after her, and the house, then this is bound to be taking it out of you.. no surprise there...

can you maybe get a cleaner in ? take some of the weight off your shoulders..

GG, no she doesn't, but maybe it would help. I have a heating pad I can put underneath, on low. Thanks for the idea!
Amazon carries self heating and made for pets beds with heating. We have used both options forever. There are also woo warmer products. One in our bathroom got hardwired and has been under a silk rug for nine years. It is one of Izzi's favorite places. Three are under the rug in the living room but just plugged in. It may be worth a quick online check. Hope your furry will be doing better soon.

Took down outdoor Halloween decorations, mainly a string of solar lights.

Cleaned the head unit with the solar battery and NiMH cell, opened 'er up to take the cell out and check it. This was a half-price cheapie but the cell was a good 800 mAH one so no need to replace it with a better one. This string is new and will only get use for a few days once a year.

Put the cell into my charger to run a conditioning cycle then charge it up for storage. I'll reassemble it checking the weather seals and then place it into the box of my light strings.

Then back to raking, mulching, picking up and packing leaves. I'd had it all done but today the lawn is filled again. Plus I need to clean leaves out of rain gutters now before the rains over the next couple of days.

Got the mail. Mostly election crap but I did get my new rates for health coverage to read through. My MA plan is still $0 to me, but vision went up maybe a penny a month while dental went up about 75 cents.

Soon I'll get my "patriotic" colors light string out there for Election Day(s) which end with the 5th.

I believe clocks fall back this weekend.

DD and I just came back from Aldi. We visited the Aisle of Shame, of course, and didn't buy anything!

@jet I agree with HD. Get a cleaning fairy!

There's a shepherd's pie in the oven as we speak. I'm so hungry I could chew a baby's butt through the slats of a park bench.
Did you know that we in the UK and in Europe have 2 chains of stores with Middle aisles of shame...Adi.... and the German store LIDL

The centre aisle are known as Middle of Lidl.. nothing original but it rhymes

Inside Lidl......I understand that there are some LIDl stores in the US now as well..

Thank you, @Twostep!

@HD We have Lidl stores here, but I don't like them. Their "bargains" just don't seem like bargains to me...loss leaders when you walk in just lead to pricier stuff as you get farther into the store. And their stores are too "tricked out," so who's paying for all that?

Aldi is bare bones so we at least know we're not paying for "decor." As much as I like Aldi's groceries and stuff, my fave is still the Aisle of Shame ;).

Do you shop at either of them?

That's not really what happens here... Lidl and Aldi layouts are almost the same here....the difference with them both is that Lidl food is much better quality...than Aldi... ( not comparing own brand stuff which is horrible in both).. but fresh meat, fresh fish, fresh baked goods. fruit & veg...etc... and Lidl have regular monthly sales of food from other countries...so we get a month of german foods.. another time, Spanish, Greek for another month and so on..if I was to have to choose only one of them, I would choose LIDL..

I finally did it, I stayed awake all day today! I got a lot of yard work done, picking and breaking of lets of branchs from the trees. I was also lucky enough to get an appointment for a haircut. I had been so depressed because I was losing so much hair, especially in the front. It had gotten quite thin and the hair line was receding.

I told this lady what I thought and she gave just that. My hair was just past my shoulders. She washed it, even though I had washed it last night. She wanted to see the curl and wave when it was wet. She took of about 7 to 8 inches, she layered it well all over. She changed it to a side part so the hair would come over my forehead and give a lot of coverage to the thinning. The back was also cut to about 2 inchs to highlight the curls.

With all the old hair off my gray finally came through in glorious shades of grey and silver. I could not be more pleased!! Sometimes we are afraid to jump but it feels so good when you hit the ground and realize your dream has come true. Laugh if you will, but I am excited to put on a full face of makeup to see how it looks. I have not worn any makeup in five years, hope I can remember how to do it.

Got to go shopping now for hair care products for curl, volume and styling so I can play with the new cut.

fabulous ! great news about the hair, and about staying awake all day so perhaps you can get back into a night time routine again... and it's clearly given you a new outlook by just getting the hairdresser to restyle your hair... well done you... you'll be back living among the living again very soon...🥰

Consulted by phone with one of my dearest online friends, who I call Li'l Sis, about album art for my project. She's also a musician but is very creative in other areas and did a fantastic job of producing my music videos, so I trust she'll do a nice job with this. I had to look through my photos to find what I'd like her to use. I sent the photos, font choices and the CD Baby article I found about artwork specs via Google document sharing and email. I love the ease of taking care of business in that manner.
