It's 3.15pm it's raining heavily.. it's dark enough for some of the neighbours to have their house lights on..

I've just been batch cooking again... cottage pie this time... I got 7 meals out of the beef I had, portioned up... potatoes, sugar snap peas , Chickpeas.. broccoli, leeks, mushrooms, red onions .. grain mustard.. minced beef, beef gravy... and red wine..

It's all cooling now, ready for me to put lids on and into the freezer. Grated cheese will be added when I reheat them ...
This week I've made 14 wholesome meals for less than £10

It is our Saturday. Fresh pitch black coffee!
Garden plans were nixed by Saint Peter who is in charge of weather. It is windy! We may end up in Kansas!
I will go through the garden cabinet in the garage and eliminate some of some hamster piles. How many ice cream tubs does one need. Empty ones!
Christmas storage has to return to the attic. Until I get Samantha's nose twitch right it means SO has to do it.
I see happy hour, hot tub and a movie on the horizon:)

After that, I want to make the last batch of Kahlua Fudge.

Oh MY: Kahlua Fudge that really sounds interesting! Where may I find the/your recipe?

My DH has been fighting some sort of stomach flu. I got my flu shot last month but he failed to go get his, so now he is suffering the consequences.

Here is hoping you don't catch what Dio has, sorry to hear.
Zinc also seems to help boost defense, keep away colds, etc; along with the C.

We call that sort of wind a "Tie down your small dog day" LOL. Small dogs here in Tucson - Arizona as a whole are at risk from wind and birds of prey!

Happy hour, hot tub and a movie sounds great! It IS Friday! Earlier I thought it was Thrs. Been doing that more and more...time is just flying faster than I can keep up.

The Kahlua Fudge is sinfully good!!! All of my friends at the rink have been asking if I was going to bring any this year! It's also easy to make.

Since you asked, I've posted the recipe for you.....
🎅 My Holiday Kahlua Fudge

Morning consisted of finally getting on the ball and calling to get my watch back from the jewelers in Austin; great coffee as usual and my morning chat with DH over solving all the world's problems. Lately, he gets up about 30-60 min before me and has a chance to have his first cuppa and check the news. Then, when I get up, I get my coffee and also want some quiet time to check world news, but he is already to chat up our usual morning chat and then I never get around to reading the whole WSJ! Sigh.

DH is better after five days of some sort of stomach flu; at least 3-5 pounds lighter. Yay for wt loss. He isn't heavy, 5'8" and 171 lbs - wish he were 160 but hey, he was 160 as a muscular Marine at age 25. Ten pounds isn't too bad and he is still somewhat muscular, not too "round". LOL.
So, DH is off to his trade show this weekend, so I have the joy of being able to sew uninterrupted for two days. Yay.

It was 85 degrees YESTERDAY by 1pm! I nearly sweated to death, later in the day! When I left at 9:15 am, I was wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt, with socks and clogs as it was like, 58 degrees!

Today, it is now almost noon and it is only 61 so far. So I don't think we will have a repeat of yesterday's "heat".

Am not complaining of the heat. I love heat of course, this is me living in Arizona, my happy place - mostly.
The issue is that when I go somewhere before 10am I am dressed for cool weather, this IS December... but, then the weather goes WONKY some days and hits 84-90!! I NEVER know how to dress between Dec 1 and Feb 1.

Sometimes I take shorts and flip flops with me in the car just to go shopping for the day....LOLOLOL

Friday: someone suggested happy hour, hot tub and good movie. Sounds like a great start to a sunny weekend.

Welp, I did it, saved some bucks on the cable-i'net stuff...after
all is done I'll still get my current channels and internet hookup
for $75.00 LESS per month!!! And I may go to VOIP landline
which would save me another 55 LESS per month....not bad
for a friday 13th!!!
wow...well done Hawkie..that's a huge saving....(y)

Too much snow to battle leaves, but too little to need more shoveling.

Bitter cold, from 10 F this morning to about 17 F now, but maybe 95% sunny. So today has been a "solar power experiments" day.

The cold and low sun-angle make it challenging, and the portable battery packs don't really like the cold at all. Right now I have a 100 watt 2-panel array connected to a tiny 26.4 Ah "power station" pack inside a cardboard box sitting on some folded up foam-plastic wrapper from some random appliance box. Sun on the cardboard helps as does not being in contact with the cold ground.

Every half-hour or hour I have to go out and move the panels to face the sun. At least the leaves are on the ground now, giving me more options where I can test.

Letting this beard grow out at least helps keep the face warm outside. And longer means softer and less wirey. I don't know about keeping it past Christmas when my bet is paid off though.

you;'re right , longer does mean softer.. but you do need to keep it tidy.... and don't drop food in it that's revolting...

Anyway I think you suit the beard tbh (y)

My daughter's family lives in Michigan near his family in Grand Haven. I envy no one living in Michigan from Dec thru April. It is so cold, often windy, snowy and bleak, damp. I wanted to be near my six grands up there, but can only take a week at the most at a time because it feels so dreary and I can't get outside.

Totally "get" the beard...I'd want to look like Chewbacca!!

Yeah, I go through extremes of cleaning paranoia after brushing my teeth or blowing my nose.

I'm sure there is an entire regime to follow to manage beards properly. Who knew they get squeaky? I'd never even heard of beard oil before.

Thanks, but I'm not sure that it's for me. You're supposed to choose a "style" then shape and manage it. We'll see if I want to deal with all that.

At least I don't wake up scratching it any more. 🤪

Also have joint pain, so totally understand.
My sister had chemo back in her 30s and now has such joint pain in her lower back due to chemo destroying her body's ability to reform bone. Aging is challenging in oh, so many ways.
Hug to hawkie.
sorry that your sister went through such horrors so young, and still paying the price....:(yes a great deal of us here have joint pain , most in the form of some type of arthritis

Was going to start thread about home made fruit cake,,, but I think the cooking forum is where I should post?

For giggles or hates...... who likes , dislikes Fruit Cake?

Any one make there own fruit cake at sometime?
I do make my own, but I never call it a "Fruit Cake" because of the bad reputation they have! 😅 I have a "secret" recipe that is nothing like what you get in the stores. Anyone who has ever tasted it has loved it!

I start by fermenting my fruit in a big glass jar....for at least 6 weeks. When the "Yule Cake" is done, I top it with a Kahlua glaze!

Before I retired, I used to sell them to my co-workers at the hospital. I would get orders for them a year in advance!
