The diet drug Ozempic...would you take it..?

Every few months my prescription drug insurer calls me to talk to a staff pharmacist to review medications.

The last time, we got to Metformin and she pushed newer alternatives including Ozempic. I'm not sure why, surely it costs more? I wasn't moved, but I'll talk to the Doc next visit to see why this came up.

Yes, I feel bad for them. I don't understand continuing to take a medication that is making you ill.
If, my arthritis drugs do this, I stop. To each their own.
As a Doberman lover are you familiar with the old Kimbertal kennels ?

Giant Dobermans which as you know come with hip problems , I have a friend who had a big red female going back to 80's .

Either way I was taking pred and another drug for arthritis in one hip , did not happen over night but taking collagen and MSM granule's I now no longer need any meds .

Negative... not gonna take it. My doc is now confused as I am off meds, 66 years old, disabled, and my "numbers" are perfect. He keeps trying to make me diabetic. No more metformin, etc. It took me 2 years to get here, but I did it the old fashioned way: diet and exercise and a better mental outlook. Live long and prosper. Edit: "Here" was 7 years ago.

I live in a small gated community and after 6 years or so know pretty much everyone .

I could tell you stories of people changing their lives drastically with food , supplements you would not believe .

Being dense I still eat what I want but do have fruit daily and vegetables grow in yard but not going to pat myself on the back because I plan to eat FRIED SPAM with eggs for dinner .

I'm not seeing the issue with the faces - they all look thin in the face because they lost weight and the women have puffy lips presumably from fillers, totally unrelated to Ozempic. Cant see anything distinctive in them.

I know many people on Oxempic and haven't noticed any face changes on them

I would take Ozempic if I had diabetes uncontrolled by oral medication/diet alone.
I wouldnt take it for weight loss alone unless I was morbidly obese and also prepared to make lifestyle changes

No. I don't have diabetes and can lose weight by dieting when I set my mind to it. I've lost about 40 lbs this past year and that's about what the Ozempic type drugs claim over a year.

I'm not sure if what they're calling Ozempic-face isn't just the way people look when they've lost a lot of weight suddenly. I once belonged to Tops and they publish a little magazine with all the big loser's before and after shots and I always noticed how much older everyone looked in the after pictures. Just think how different your own face might look if you took a pound off each cheek.

I always liked Sharon Osborne and thought she had a beautiful face, what a shame.

I had to stop taking Metformin, as it caused stomach issues. When I researched Ozempic, I declined the prescription. I'm borderline, and manage with diet.

I would never take it unless there was no alternative medication if I had diabetes (which I don’t). Part of me understands why the stars are eating it up like candy – the pressure of aging and staying thin in that industry is huge. Perhaps they think if they are thin, they still have a chance at obtaining roles, or being marketable in some way – I don’t know.

Taking this drug and that drug to lessen essential tremor shaking--receiving very little help, just unpleasant side effects, which meant going through weeks of miserable titrating withdrawal, I've become leery of taking ANY medication.
Ugh, I have the essential tremors too. It's maddening the way I keep dropping things! Still, I won't take any drugs for it because of the potential for side effects. I just reviewed my OT training and there are a few things I now do:

When using my hands for certain tasks, holding my arms close to my sides minimizes some of the tremors.

I am checking out computer software for people with tremors so I can stop making so many typos.

Switching to a rocker knife for cutting veggies. Looking to weighted handles for utensils.

She has looked like that since long before Oh No No Ozembic came along. Ozzy wanted a woman that was a freak show reject and he found one in her.

I absolutely would not take Ozembic. In fact, I told my first Doc here that since she was insisting I take it that she would have to get her kickbacks from somebody else and found another Doc.
actually the truth is, Sharon was Ozzie 's manager's daughter, and that's how they got together.. he was already married with kids...

well I suspect they weren't that concerned about the way they might end up looking after taking it, because for years now hollyweird has been accepting the freak plastic surgery show....from hundreds of celebrities..

None of these miracle weight loss drugs or procedures will provide any lasting change unless or until we address the root cause of our individual problems.

I manage my weight with a combination of diet and exercise but I’m concerned that as I age a more restrictive diet may be necessary if I’m unable to continue exercising.

I envy people who are content with tea and toast.

I still get mine on days where I have to grip something firmly , say for example I'd been carrying a heavy grocery bag for any distance.. then I get the BET for a couple of hours, hard to hold a cup of tea without using 2 hands etc...but otherwise I rarely get it now...

When I first got it, I was convinced because my father had died from Parkinson's Disease, that this was what I ust have, but not..thankfully... instead it is what it says on the time..benign essential tremor...annoying is the best way to descrbe it.. but not life threatening...

Not judging at all. This is what worked for me and still does and you have your path. My ex-PCP was a pill pusher who literally made me ill back then. I apologize for using the historical present. Besides, I like to cook and read and take fotos whilst playing old school jazz.

I think they're talking about that square chin everyone seems to get with ozempic...I've lost weight..gained weight...lost it again..too much so that I was borderline anorexic and weighed just 80 pounds , and never looked like that shape of face...

I used to think all that natural stuff was all nonsense but big difference it made for me with arthritis in one hip and though never tried ginger it was recommended as anti inflammation .

A lb is a lot but as you know often the pill versions are inadequate as tiny amount , you grow it yourself ?
I buy the ginger root at the supermarket. Refrigerated fresh vegetables section.
