The diet drug Ozempic...would you take it..?

She has looked like that since long before Oh No No Ozembic came along. Ozzy wanted a woman that was a freak show reject and he found one in her.

I absolutely would not take Ozembic. In fact, I told my first Doc here that since she was insisting I take it that she would have to get her kickbacks from somebody else and found another Doc.
I stopped taking metformin against my doctors wishes and managing my own health with exercise and diet. I feel better and stopped looking like a meth head.

This is clearly a diabetes medication, but when people saw the weight loss benefits, the companies quickly pivoted to weight loss marketing and the sheeple fell for it. Regardless of the health risks
also because it was too expensive for the average joe or joanne when it first came out, so making it an exclusive drug to the rich.. and for the first couple years their constant lies promoting magical weight loss exercise and diet foods...before it was discovered they were taking this diabetes drug as a fashion statement by and large ( no pun intended)

It's still expensive but cheaper than it was, so more affordable to the average person

This is another thing that threw me when I learned about so many people taking this drug just to lose weight, and were not diabetic. I'll never understand some people at all.

Depending on insurance it runs $40 and potentially less.

Not here .... if you're being treated on the NHS for diabetes, it costs just £9.90 for each prescription or free if over 60....

if choosing it as a weight loss drug, without a diabetes diagnosis then it costs much more..

It means going through other options such as recorded diet and medication and an approval process if a physician considers it for weight loss.

actually the truth is, Sharon was Ozzie 's manager's daughter, and that's how they got together.. he was already married with kids...
Yeah, I know. I didn't say the guy had any class.

Strangely enough, when he sings I can understand him. But when he talks, he sounds like he's got a mouth full of shi... uh, caca and I have to listen closely to understand what he is saying.

I always laugh when someone says "He looks like an alcoholic." I aways think about this poster they had the mission I volunteered at in Eureka that said "What does and Alcoholic look like?" And it had about 20 photos of different people on it, a Cop, a Doc, a Judge, a Teacher, etc.

But if you see a Tweaker, and you know for sure that you're looking at a Tweaker. Specially if they're totally spun. They've got Charlie Manson eyes...

As a Doberman lover are you familiar with the old Kimbertal kennels ?

Giant Dobermans which as you know come with hip problems , I have a friend who had a big red female going back to 80's .

Either way I was taking pred and another drug for arthritis in one hip , did not happen over night but taking collagen and MSM granule's I now no longer need any meds .
I'm not familiar w/Kimbertal Kennels. This is the first time I've heard the name. I checked them out on FB and they've gotten good and bad reviews. I'm in California that may be why I've never heard of them. Thanks.

No. Not diabetic or overweight. I have to be sure to eat enough to keep my current weight. If my BMI falls below 22 I start feeling “weak.”

yes well he not only has one of the least understandable British accents coming from Birmingham.. but he also has Parkinsons disease...

As hard a time as I'm having trying to lose weight (again), I hate needles, so that's reason #1 I wouldn't use it. My Honorary Daughter is using an alternative injectable. She said (and I have read) that a lot of people are having gastric problems with Ozempic. That's another reason I wouldn't use it. HD said she hasn't experienced that with what the alternative she's using. She injected herself when she was here, but I forgot the name of the drug.

My ex SIL who was highly respected in her career didn’t have a brain in her head when it came to her diet. Starve, fall off the diet wagon, etc. She even had a gastric bypass, lost a lot of weight and back to overeating. She is diabetic and last I heard she was using Ozempic. I haven’t heard how she’s doing. I hope it works so she doesn’t have a short life.

Two friends deep in their 60s are using an Ozempic knockoff. One I've known for 40 years - throughout those years she's struggled with her weight and dieted endlessly, including bouts with Opti-Fast and other liquid supplements. She's been diagnosed as pre-diabetic and has been taking the pills for about 6 months. She looks fabulous. Not slender, but certainly moving in healthy weight territory. Her appetite has been greatly reduced due to the meds. She's beyond happy about it.

The other woman I've known for only a few years, but it's clear she's been significantly overweight for at least all of her adult life. Again, a clear difference in her appetite and appearance. As far as I know she's neither diabetic nor pre-diabetic, but can't say for sure.

I don't judge them harshly for turning to these meds. Both are also making serious lifestyle changes. If in their shoes, I'd probably also try it.

Doctors are finding that people losing weight on these meds are experiencing much better health overall, including significant reductions in heart attacks, strokes, and all-cause mortality.

Going from being morbidly obese to a healthy weight has many benefits.

Edited to add: Both women take a pill form of the medication, not injections.

I think that is the key to success - use the medication to help you make lifestyle changes.

Expecting the medication alone to do it is unrealistic and changes nothing i n the long term (and not much in the short term)

A 'Godzilla' new weight loss jab created by the maker of Mounjaro could make patients shed dangerous amounts of weight, research has suggested.

Early trials of the drug, retatrutide, have already shown it can help people shed a quarter of their body weight in under a year — almost twice as effective as Ozempic.

But now scientists have discovered alarming complications of the drug-induced fat loss, like bone breakages and kidney problems.

Unlike other slimming injections, the jab manufactured by US pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly not only suppresses the appetite but also speeds up the metabolism.

Yet, volunteers in the latest clinical trial have claimed they've lost too much fat too quickly.

One participant reportedly dropped 22 per cent of her weight in just nine months. She later began skipping every other dose regardless.

Another, who lost almost a third of his weight in eight months, developed potentially dangerous kidney stones.

On social media, users who claim to have got their hands on the experimental drug — despite it not yet being approved for use in either the US or UK — have also boasted of losing more than three stone on the jabs in a matter of months.

The once-weekly injectable has been dubbed 'triple g' because it targets three different hormones involved in how much we eat.

By comparison, Ozempic and Wegovy target one, and Mounjaro targets two hormones.

According to Stat News, it is not certain whether the trial participant who lost 30 per cent of his weight in eight months developed the kidney stone because of weight loss.

Studies, however, have suggested that such medicines, collectively known as GLP-1 agonists, may trigger the condition.

Another, who claimed his weight had plunged 31 per cent over a similar time period said he had been forced to eat calorie-dense foods like peanut butter to avoid losing more.

'Godzilla' weight loss jab beats Ozempic but has an alarming problem

Yes, I have started taking 0.25 mg of Ozempic under doctor supervision for weight loss. I did lose 30 lbs and 5 lbs back on a few years ago but I am not getting anywhere right now and the extra weight is starting to affect my health. I need to lose at least 20 lb over the next year. I walk about 2 hrs a day and have changed my eating habits. I go back to the dr 6 wks after starting to see how I am doing. I have cut down on my food intake as I tend to get acid reflux and that has gone away now.

Too much Hype for this new drug..losing all that weight so fast can not be good. I'd let the doctors pushing it try it first.
